Abstract: An intake air circuit is structured to transmit intake air from a turbocharger compressor to an intake manifold of an engine. A charge air cooler (“CAC”), a bypass line, and a bypass heater are each positioned along the intake air circuit in parallel with each other. A first control valve is structured to controllably divert the intake air around the CAC. A second control valve is structured to controllably divert the intake air around at least one of the bypass line and the bypass heater. A controller operatively coupled to each of the engine, and the first and second control valves is structured to control each of the first and second control valves to cause the intake air to flow along a determined desired flow path based on each of measured ambient temperature and measured engine load.

Abstract: Apparatuses, methods, and systems for igniting fuel for an internal combustion engine, an ignition system include a first ignition device associated with a pre-combustion chamber of a cylinder and a second ignition device associated with a main combustion chamber of the cylinder. An engine control unit is operably connected to both the engine and the ignition system to ignite fuel for the cylinder with the first ignition device independently of igniting fuel with the second ignition device. The engine control unit determines an occurrence of a combustion condition and in response thereto (i) ignites fuel for combustion with both the first and the second ignition devices or (ii) ignites fuel for combustion only with the second ignition device. The engine control unit determines a second combustion condition and in response thereto ignites fuel only with the first ignition device.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides an engine fueling system that includes multiple fueling valves such that the fuel transport delay can be reduced. The fueling system may also include an electrically driven compressor to improve engine properties during engine startup. For example, an engine fueling system comprising: a first compressor; an intake air throttle operably coupled to the first compressor and positioned downstream of the first compressor; a primary fuel path in communication with a fuel supply, wherein a first fuel from the fuel supply is injected into the primary fuel path upstream from the compressor; and a secondary fuel path in communication with the fuel supply, wherein a second fuel from the fuel supply is injected into the secondary fuel path downstream from the compressor.

Abstract: A cooling system for a cylinder head of an internal combustion engine includes a cylindrical seat configured to engage an exhaust valve, a first coolant jacket, and a first conduit. The exhaust valve seat defines an annular cooling passage extending along a circumference of the cylindrical seat. A wall of the cylindrical seat defines a first opening into the annular cooling passage and a second opening into the annular cooling passage, where the first opening is positioned diametrically opposite to the second opening. The first coolant jacket is positioned adjacent to a fire-deck of the internal combustion engine. The first conduit fluidly couples the first coolant jacket to the at least one of the first opening and the second opening to the annular cooling passage in the exhaust valve seat.

Abstract: A method and system of power generating is provided to reduce a startup time of a genset for providing requested power to a utility grid or a load. The genset includes a generator, a turbocharger, and an energy storage. The generator includes an engine. The genset responds to a genset start signal by accelerating an engine speed of the generator to reach a synchronous speed. The engine speed is accelerated more rapidly by activating the energy storage device to supply power to at least one of the generator and the turbocharger. The generator then supplies power to the utility grid or load.
