Abstract: In a heat exchanger for a vehicle, a cover member covers an upstream side end that is a part of an outer peripheral surface of a tube in which a heat medium flows, on the upstream side of the air flow. Further, the cover member is fixed to the upstream side end of the tube. For example, a width of the cover member is equal to or less than that of the tube in a direction perpendicular to the air flow direction and a flow direction of the heat medium. Thus, the heat exchanger can prevent the misalignment of the cover member with respect to the tube, thereby protecting the tube by the cover member at the front side of the vehicle. Therefore, the tube can be protected from chipping.

Abstract: A heat exchanger has a core plate connected to a tank member by clamping claws. The tank member has a waved outer surface including outer ridge portions and outer valley portions which are disposed alternately. The tank member also has a waved inner surface including inner ridge portions and inner valley portions which are disposed alternately. The outer valley portions are capable of receiving the claws. The inner ridge portion is positioned inside the outer valley portion in a width direction. The inner ridge portion is positioned between the adjacent tubes and/or between extensions of the tubes in a height direction. An inner width of the tank member regulated by the inner ridge portions is narrower than a width of the tube.

Abstract: A reserve tank includes a vapor-liquid separator, an inlet portion, an outlet portion, and a protrusion. The vapor-liquid separator defines an inner space for separating a vapor phase and a liquid phase of a cooling water. The inlet portion defines a first opening through which the cooling water is supplied into the inner space and the outlet portion defines a second opening through which the cooling water is discharged from the inner space. The protrusion protrudes upward from a bottom surface of the vapor-liquid separator. An inner circumferential surface of the vapor-liquid separator and an outer circumferential surface of the protrusion are coaxially provided to define an annular passage in the inner space. The cooling water introduced from the first opening flows spirally in the annular passage.

Abstract: A side slit of a core plate of a heat exchanger reaches a sealing surface. The core plate has a rib which is formed on a bottom plate across a protruding portion. The rib communicates to a cavity above the sealing surface. An end slit formed on an end wall of the core plate reaches the sealing surface. A first joining tab is formed between two end slits. The first joining tab is joined to a second joining tab on a reinforce plate. The side slit and the rib enable deformation of the core plate. The end slit enables deformation of the first joining tab in a tilting manner.
