Abstract: A fluorine-containing polymer including a repeat unit derived from a fluorine-containing monomer (A1) and a repeat unit derived from a hydrocarbon group-bearing fluorine-free monomer (A2). The fluorine-free monomer (A2) is preferably at least one monomer selected from (A2-1) R22—C(═O)—NH—R23—O—R21, (A2-2) CH2═C(—R32)—C(═O)—Y31—Z31(—Y32—R31)n, and (A2-3) X41N(H)r—R41. Also disclosed is a surface treatment agent containing (A) the fluorine-containing polymer and (B) a liquid medium, as well as a method for producing the surface treatment agent and a method for producing a treated substrate.

Abstract: Provided is a water repellent composition which does not use a fluorine-containing monomer, especially a fluoroalkyl group-containing monomer. A water repellent composition which contains (1) (a) a polymer which has a repeating unit derived from an amide group-containing monomer that is represented by formula: (wherein R1 represents an organic residue having an ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable group; R2 represents a hydrocarbon group having 7-30 carbon atoms; and R3 represents a hydrocarbon group having 1-5 carbon atoms) in an amount of 2-100% by weight relative to the polymer, and (2) a liquid medium.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a production method for an amide group-containing monomer. With the present disclosure, an amide group-containing monomer in which the amount of impurities is low is efficiently produced, the production method including a transesterification reaction step for obtaining an amide group-containing monomer represented by a formula CH2═C(—R11)C(═O)O—Y1—NHC(═O)—R12 (in the formula, R11 is a hydrogen atom, a monovalent organic group, or a halogen atom, Y1 is a 2-4 valent hydrocarbon group having 1-6 carbon atoms, and R12 is a monovalent hydrocarbon group having 6-40 carbon atoms) from an amide group-containing alcohol represented by a formula HO—Y1—NHC(═O)—R12 (in the formula, Y1 is a 2-4 valent hydrocarbon group having 1-6 carbon atoms and R12 is a monovalent hydrocarbon group having 6-40 carbon atoms), wherein the total amount of Na, K, and Li present as impurities of the amide group-containing alcohol is equal to or less than 300 ppm.
