摘要:
A laser-engraveable composition comprises one or more elastomeric rubbers and specific amounts of inorganic, non-infrared radiation absorber fillers, a vulcanizing composition, carbon nanotubes, and other near-infrared radiation absorbers such as non-conductive carbon blacks, within certain weight ratios. This laser-engraveable composition can be used to form various flexographic printing precursors that can be laser-engraved to provide relief images in flexographic printing plates, printing cylinders, or printing sleeves.
摘要:
A flexographic printing precursor can be imaged and used for flexographic printing. This precursor has at least two laser-engraveable layers, in which the underlying non-printing laser-engraveable layer is more sensitive than the outermost non-metallic printing laser-engraveable layer. The non-printing layer-engraveable layer comprises (1) a first elastomer, (2) a polymer that is nitrocellulose, a polymer comprising a triazene group, a glycidyl azide polymer, or a poly(vinyl nitrate), and (3) a first near-infrared radiation absorber. The outermost non-metallic printing laser-engraveable layer comprises a second elastomer and a second infrared radiation absorber.

A non-ablative negative-working imageable element has first and second polymeric layers under a crosslinked silicone rubber layer. These elements can be used in a simple method to provide lithographic printing plates useful for waterless printing (no fountain solution). Processing after imaging is relatively simple using either water or an aqueous solution containing very little organic solvent to remove the imaged regions. The crosslinked silicone rubber layer is ink-repelling and only the first layer that is closest to the substrate contains an infrared radiation absorbing compound to provide thermal sensitivity.

Lithographic printing plates can be prepared and made ready for lithographic printing without wet development or processing. A positive-working lithographic printing plate precursor is exposed to ablating infrared radiation of an energy of at least 1 J/cm2 to form a lithographic printing plate ready for lithographic printing. The positive-working lithographic printing plate precursor has a hydrophilic aluminum substrate, and on the substrate, a crosslinked hydrophilic inner layer, and an oleophilic surface layer that is chemically bonded to the crosslinked hydrophilic inner layer. An intermediate layer provided between the crosslinked hydrophilic inner and oleophilic surface layers. Either this intermediate or the oleophilic surface layer, or both, generally includes an infrared radiation absorbing compound.

A system for engraving flexographic printing plates includes a flexographic printing plate comprised of at least two ablation layers, a printing ablation layer and a non-printing ablation layer. In addition the system includes a laser source adapted to ablate the flexographic plate. The laser source is comprised of a first group of one or more radiation sources each emitting radiation on the printing ablation layer, and a second group of one or more radiation sources each emitting radiation on the non-printing ablation layer.

A method for writing an image to a surface of an offset media (100) includes mounting the offset media on the imaging drum (204); imaging on a first part of the surface with high energy radiation to ablate the first part wherein the first part represent non-image data; and imaging a second part of the surface with low energy radiation to fixate image data on the second part.
摘要:
Lithographic printing plates are prepared from lithographic printing plate precursors that have an imageable layer comprising hydrophobic thermosetting particles that comprise a curable composition having certain properties. Upon exposure to imaging radiation such as infrared radiation, the hydrophobic thermosetting particles are cured and fused to each other and to the substrate. Such particles can be readily removed in the non-exposed regions of the imageable layer by dry rubbing or other simple processes without the use of alkaline developers or gumming solutions.

A color contrast image in imaged lithographic printing precursors can be obtained by contacting the imaged precursor with a coloration solution containing a colorless form of a photochromic compound. Residual amounts of this compound attached to the oleophilic surface of the imaged precursor can be changed to its colored form when exposed to UV light. The coloration solution can be an alkaline or acidic developer or an alkaline or acidic solution used separately after development. The coloration solution can also be a gum solution.
