The one-way fill valve allows an inert gas to be added to an electronic enclosure without contamination and without excessive leakage. A scrim layer is provided between a breathable layer and a sealing element to protect the breathable layer from possible rupture and allow for greater air flow across the breathable layer.

    摘要: A filtering apparatus (12) includes a filter cartridge (28) which may be replaced or cleaned and re-used. The filter apparatus also includes a heat exchanger (62) which receives cooling air to cool the exhaust prior to filtering. The cooled exhaust does not pose combustion problems for soot or the filter material in the cartridge (28). In addition to cooling the exhaust, a temperature-sensitive valve (36) opens and closes to prevent excessively hot exhaust gas from reaching the filter cartridge (28). The valve (36) includes bi-metal discs (52) which bow outward when the temperature increases and flatten when the temperature decreases. The discs engage a cover to an orifice and slide axially to open and close the valve (36). The apparatus also may include a back pressure valve (72) which will open when the exhaust flow is backed up to prevent damage to the engine.

Contaminant control media is deposited within the internal cavity via the fill port by means of creating a negative pressure within the internal cavity. The application of a partial vacuum facilitates movement of the contaminant control media into the internal cavity and minimizes the contamination of the filter, housing, and work space common to other loose fill filling methods.

    摘要: The filter construction includes a first portion that removes or reduces contaminants entering a disk drive enclosure from the external atmosphere and a second portion that removes or reduces contaminants present within the disk drive enclosure. Air exits the first portion in an area of the disk drive enclosure having a low air pressure. The second portion has an adsorbent filter, such as a recirculation filter, which allows air or gas to flow therethrough with little resistance. The filter construction has an exit positioned approximately parallel to the periphery of a disk in the disk drive enclosure, so that air exiting the filter construction is generally perpendicular to the air currents produced by the spinning disk.
