摘要: The present invention provides methods and compositions directed to the production of polypeptides in plant protein storage tissue. Methods of the invention include methods for producing polypeptides in protein storage tissues by decreasing the level of protease activity in the plant protein storage tissue. Compositions of the invention include plants that are genetically modified such that the activity of one or more proteases is reduced or eliminated, transformed seeds obtained from these genetically modified plants, and sequences encoding a novel member of the VPE cysteine protease family found in seed, ε-VPE. These methods and compositions find utility in altering the nutritional or other qualities of seed, and in producing useful proteins including pharmacological or industrial proteins.

摘要: Methods and compositions are provided which allow for the production of an inverted repeat in a plant or plant part, which, when transcribed as an RNA can be used in some examples to decrease expression of a target polynucleotide of interest. The methods and composition provide precursor inverted repeat cassettes that are not capable of producing a hairpin RNA polynucleotide, and plants and plant parts comprising such precursor inverted repeat cassettes. The precursor inverted repeat cassettes are altered in planta by using a recombination system to produce a inverted repeat. Plants, plant parts, and seeds comprising the various components are also provided.

摘要: The present invention provides compositions and methods for regulating expression of nucleotide sequences in a plant. Compositions are novel nucleotide sequences for a tissue preferred promoter isolated from the sorghum δ-kafirin coding region. The sequences drive expression preferentially to endosperm tissue. A method for expressing a nucleotide sequence in a plant using the regulatory sequences disclosed herein is provided. The method comprises transforming a plant cell to comprise a nucleotide sequence operably linked to one or more of the regulatory sequences of the present invention and regenerating a stably transformed plant from the transformed plant cell.

摘要: A process for the manufacture of high impact and translucent polystyrene, in which, in a first stage, styrene is prepolymerized in mass or in solution in the presence of a rubber, and the polymerization is then completed in mass, in solution or in aqueous suspension. The prepolymerization is taken to a stage where the amount of styrene converted is from 3 to 10 times the amount of the elastomer constituent of the rubber, and at this conversion the disperse soft-component phase formed should have a mean particle size of less than 1 .mu.m and should contain from 35 to 65% by weight of free or chemically bonded polystyrene segments. The translucent styrene polymers of high impact strength may be used for packaging purposes.
