    摘要: A body composition analyzer provides the resistive and reactive components of a body's measure impedance as well as body fat information and ideal weight information. The analyzer includes an analog circuit under the control of a microprocessor for providing signals to the microprocessor that are representative of the voltage across the network formed by the body and of the voltage across a reference network of known impedance that is connected in series with the body network. The microprocessor calculates the body networks impedance as a function of the ratio of the body network voltage and reference network voltage signals to provide extremely accurate results. The body composition analyzer is a hand-held unit that can transmit data to a peripheral device for recording via a wireless communication network. The analyzer is further programmable so that various algorithms and constants stored therein can be updated.

    摘要: A tissue ablation system for treating fibrillation in a patient comprises a steerable interventional catheter having an energy source that emits a beam of energy to ablate tissue thereby creating a conduction block for aberrant electrical pathways. The system also includes a handle disposed near a proximal end of the interventional catheter and has an actuation mechanism for steering the interventional catheter. A console allows the system to be controlled and provides power to the system, and a display pod is electrically coupled with the console. The display pod has a display panel to display system information to a user and allows the user to control the system. A catheter pod is releasably coupled with the handle electrically and mechanically, and also electrically coupled with the display pod.

    摘要: Systems and methods for ablating tissue include an ablation device having an energy source and a sensor. The energy source provides a beam of energy directable to target tissue, and the sensor senses energy reflected back from the target tissue. The sensor collects various information from the target tissue in order to facilitate adjustment of ablation operating parameters, such as changing power or position of the energy beam. Gap distance between the energy source and target tissue, energy beam incident angle, tissue motion, tissue type, lesion depth, etc. are examples of some of the information that may be collected during the ablation process and used to help control ablation of the tissue.

    摘要: A multi-lumen, multi-purpose cardiac catheter which incorporates optical filaments and an optical coupler for use with external apparatus for determining the oxygen concentration in the blood of a patient under critical care conditions, as well as incorporating therein a heater coil useable with a second external apparatus for measurement of continuous cardiac output. The catheter also includes a thermistor and at least one injectate port for enabling the user to also conduct thermal dilution readings and obtain intermittent measurements of cardiac output. The combination of a thermal dilution catheter with a SVO.sub.2 catheter and a continuous cardiac output catheter gives the multi-purpose catheter above described substantial versatility as well as providing the user with a versatile cardiac catheter device which enables him to conduct multiple evaluations of disparate blood-related parameters which require the use of separate apparatus. Simply by switching from one external apparatus to the other, the user can obtain readings for different blood-related parameters useful in the treatment of the cardiac patient.
