摘要: Bacteriologically stable, semi-moist proteinaceous food products, of lower concentration of conventional humectants and consequently higher acceptability to consumers, such as domestic pets, are obtained by including as at least part of the water-soluble humectant content low molecular weight polypeptide materials. Examples of suitable materials are condensed fish solubles and fish or meat autolysates. Especially preferred are compositions including acidified polypeptide sources and which consequently have pH values in the range 3.5 to 5.5 and have water activities in the range 0.85 to 0.95. Minor proportions Nf conventional humectants such as sugar or polyhydric alcohols can be included. Compositions of pH 5.5 to 7 and water activity 0.75 to 0.85 can also be preferred. Products may include heat-coagulable binders such as gluten or albumen and be formed with subsequent cooking into coherent pieces. Burger type products can also be formed from pasteurized meats without subsequent cooking.

摘要: The invention relates to food products and provides novel foods for animals, especially pets. In particular the invention relates to coherent elastic semi-moist food products which are stabilized against bacterial growth by the inclusion of humectants at reduced water activity. The products include subdivided protein material bound together with a gel formed by a polysaccharide gelling agent containing monosaccharide units other than (including in addition to) glucose residues and preferably having free or esterified acidic substituent groups. A preferred example of such a gelling agent is a mixture of xanthan and carob gums. Quantities of gelling agent in the range 0.2 to 5% are preferred and the moisture content should be from about 30% to 70%, the humectant concentration of about 5% to about 40% by weight, the pH between about 3.5 and about 7.5, and the water activity (Aw) below 0.95 or below 8.5 depending on the acidity of the product. The invention allows for the preparation of meat-like products for animals having an elastic coherent structure with a high gel strength from the less attractive varieties or cuts of meats or offals.

摘要: Systems and methods for using a brake system to selectively lock and release the vertical motion of a C-arm X-ray device that is part of a sliding counterbalanced C-arm positioning device are described. In such systems and methods, the C-arm positioning device typically includes a C-arm X-ray device, a linear bearing rail assembly, a linear bearing block, a counterbalance mechanism, and brake system. Generally, the C-arm is connected to the linear bearing block, which is slidably coupled to the bearing rail assembly to allow the bearing block and C-arm to slide up and down on the rail assembly. The counterbalance mechanism applies a force to the bearing block to substantially counterbalance the weight of the components, such as the C-arm, that are suspended from the bearing block. The brake system can be actuated to engage the linear bearing rail assembly and lock the vertical movement of the linear bearing block. Other embodiments are described.

摘要: Systems and methods for making and using sliding counterbalanced C-arm positioning devices are described. In such systems and methods, each C-arm positioning device includes a C-arm X-ray device, a linear bearing rail, a linear bearing block, and a counterbalance mechanism. Generally, the C-arm is connected to the linear bearing block, which, in turn, is slidably coupled to the bearing rail to allow the bearing block and C-arm to slide up and down on the rail. The counterbalance mechanism can apply a force to the bearing block to counterbalance the weight of the C-arm and the bearing block. Thus, the described C-arm positioning device can allow a user to easily raise or lower the C-arm with relatively little effort. While some implementations of the C-arm positioning device are connected to mobile support structure, other implementations of the C-arm positioning device are mounted to a fixed support structure. Other implementations are also described.

摘要: Systems and methods for making and using a multi-blade collimator device are described herein. The collimator device can include a base member, a rotational member, and multiple X-ray-attenuating blades that fit together to define an aperture. The blades are typically disposed between the base member and rotational member. Additionally, the blades can be mechanically connected to or interfaced with the base member and the rotational member so that when the rotational member is rotated with respect to the base member, the blades move and cause the aperture to change in size. The aperture can be any shape, including polygonal, square, or rectangular. While the aperture's size can be increased and decreased, the shape and orientation of the aperture can remain substantially constant. The collimator can contain a single layer of blades or multiple layers of blades. Other embodiments are described.

摘要: A wafer processing system and method in which a wafer, having a diameter, is movable between a loadlock and a processing chamber. A transfer chamber is arranged for selective pressure communication with the loadlock and the processing chamber. The transfer chamber having a configuration of lateral extents such that the wafer is movable through the transfer chamber between the loadlock and processing chamber along a wafer transfer path and the configuration of lateral extents causes the wafer, having the wafer diameter and moving along the wafer transfer path, to interfere with at least one of the loadlock and the processing chamber for any position along the wafer transfer path. The wafer includes a center and the wafer transfer path cab be defined by movement of the center through the transfer chamber. Swing arms are described that can independently move by different angles in opposing directions from a home position.

摘要: A vegetation pruning device (102) includes a pair (114, 116) of pivotably coupled handles and a motor having a rotary output drive (130) for driving an endless flexible cutting chain (108). A guard (162) is moved relative to the chain (108) by pivoting the handles (114, 116) relative to each other to grip vegetation between the guard (162) and the chain (108). The guard is provided with a pair of curved upper surfaces (164) having teeth (166). The rotary output drive (130) of the motor is arranged generally coaxially with the axis of pivotal movement of the handles (114, 116).
