摘要: An insulation product is provided comprising a low density mat containing randomly oriented inorganic fibers bonded by a heat cured binder. The mat has first and second major surfaces and a pair of side portions. A nonwoven sheet is bonded to the first major surface. The nonwoven sheet comprises randomly oriented glass fibers and is bonded to the first major surface by the heat cured binder.

摘要: A method of making an insulation product is provided. An uncured or partially cured mat containing randomly oriented inorganic fibers and a heat curable binder agent is formed. The mat has a pair of side portions and a first and second major surfaces thereon. A nonwoven sheet is applied to the first major surface. The nonwoven sheet comprises randomly oriented glass fibers. The uncured or partially cured mat is heated with the nonwoven sheet, wherein the mat is cured to form a low density mat and the nonwoven sheet is bonded to the first major surface by the heat curable binder agent.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for the production of fibrous insulation, especially relatively thick fibrous insulation. Previously some relatively thick insulation has been produced through lamination techniques using a plurality of insulation layers, which possibly included the use of a continuous fibrous hinge as an alignment aid during lamination. However, proper alignment using a continuous hinge is difficult and leaves an objectionable bulge of fibrous material. The present invention eliminates the fibrous bulge of the prior art and provides a more accurate means by which to substantially accurately align the layers of fibrous insulation. A fibrous blanket of insulation is slit by means of a notched cutting blade to provide a plurality of fibrous hinges or fibrous pillars connecting a plurality of fibrous batts whereby upon the application of an adhesive to one or more of the fibrous batts, another of the batts may be folded about the hinges onto the adhesive covered batt and laminated to form the relatively thick insulation product.

摘要: A fiber glass board useful as a form board for lightweight cement and the like is strengthened by providing for the fibers to be predominantly oriented generally parallel to the major faces of the board in directions both parallel to and transversely of the dimension of the board corresponding to the process direction. A downstream conveyor which moves the blanket of fibers through the curing oven moves faster than the collection conveyor, thereby producing a drawing effect on the blanket and causing the desired fiber alignment. A glass fiber mat is applied to one or both major faces of the blanket prior to movement through the oven to provide additional stiffness to the board.

摘要: An insulated window comprising a layer of insulation between two transparent sheets of glazing. The sheets are glued to the insulation layer and then separated so as to increase the thickness of the insulation, thereby providing a way to reduce the density of the insulation beyond the minimum density that can be manufactured. The light transmission of the insulation is substantially unaffected, but the thermal insulating value of the insulation is improved.
