摘要: A system of nestable chairs for use in a work environment is disclosed. The system includes a plurality of chairs. Each chair includes a base, a support coupled to the base, and a seat assembly coupled to the support and adapted for pivotal movement and for vertical adjustment with respect to the base. The base of a first chair of the plurality of chairs is configured to allow for nesting within the base of a second chair of the plurality of chairs. A chair for use in a work space or the like is also disclosed. The chair includes a base having a nesting portion and a nested portion, a support coupled to the base, and a seat assembly coupled to the support and adapted for pivotal movement and for vertical adjustment with respect to the base. The nested portion of the base is configured to allow for nesting within the nesting portion of the base. The chair may also include a support in the form of a pedestal coupled to the base. A yoke may be coupled to the pedestal, with the seat assembly coupled to the yoke and adapted for pivotal movement and for vertical adjustment with respect to the base.

摘要: A counterbalance mechanism for height adjustable computer equipment supports and the like that includes a drive shaft mounted on an associated support for axial rotation. The drive shaft is operably connected with a worksurface to facilitate vertical adjustment of the same within a predetermined range. The counterbalance mechanism has a first energy storage device operably connected between the support and the drive shaft, which applies a first axial torque to the drive shaft in a first rotational direction. The first energy storage device is configured such that the first axial torque diminishes at a predetermined rate as the drive shaft rotates in the first rotational direction. A second energy storage device is operably connected between the support and the drive shaft, and applies a second axial torque to the drive shaft in a second rotational direction, opposite to the first rotational direction, thereby defining a resultant counterbalance force which facilitates vertical adjustment of the worksurface. The second energy storage device is configured such that when the drive shaft rotates in the first rotational direction, the second axial torque diminishes at a rate which is substantially equal to the predetermined rate of the first energy storage device, whereby the resultant counterbalance force remains generally constant throughout the predetermined range of vertical adjustment of the worksurface.

A sensor for sensing movement of the engagement wheel is provided and a control system is coupled to the sensor for receiving information about positioning and movement of the engagement wheel, and is also coupled to the actuator for controlling force to the engagement wheel. The control system also provides control of the at least one function of the system.

摘要: Mechanisms for a control knob or other interface device providing additional degrees of freedom for the knob. One embodiment provides a rotatable knob moveable also in a lateral plane approximately perpendicular to the axis of rotation. A mechanism providing the lateral motion can include a gate member and a plunger member that engages grooves in the gate member. A rotational sensor detects a rotational position and a lateral sensor can detect a lateral position of the knob. Another embodiment provides an actuator that includes a shaft that is coaxial with the axis of rotation and which can be moved linearly along the axis of rotation with respect to actuator housing to accommodate linear motion of the knob. In another embodiment, a gear assembly including two interlocked gears is provided to transmit rotational motion from the knob to the sensor, and the interlocked gears translate with respect to each other when the knob is translated along the rotational axis.
