摘要: A delay circit is described which automatically adjusts the propagation delay of clock signals, generated by a clock source, distributed to various receiving devices so that the receiving devices are clocked simultaneously. In one embodiment, the clock signal generated by a single clock source is independently delayed for each receiving device. To determine the proper amount of delay, a clock signal is simultaneously transmitted to each of the receiving devices and a clock return signal from each receiving device is returned to a delay circuit via a return path. The delay circuit detects the various differences in round-trip arrival times of the clock signal associated with each receiving device and fixes a particular clock signal delay for each receiving device so that subsequent clock signals will arrive at each receiving device simultaneoulsy.

摘要: A method and logical apparatus for accomplishing the two-way authentication of two parties without the use of nonce values. In the prior art, authentication may be accomplished both through the use of stored and of generated password lists. Also from the prior art these methods may be extended by the use of “nonce” values, a subset of a larger category of “anti-replay values” (ARVs). ARVs are values which satisfy the constraints that they must be used only once, that they must be unguessable by an attacker, and that they must reveal nothing about either the entity generating them or the entity receiving them. These methods are extended here by using not nonces but “Mutual Anti-Replay Values” (MARVs), which are values which satisfy the requirements for ARVs and which, further, are known to both the authenticator and authenticatee. These MARVs may be stored or generated lists independent of the password lists maintained by the authenticator and authenticatee, or they may be derived in special ways from these password lists. The use of MARVs in this invention, rather than the nonces of the prior art, provides tamper-evidence at the authenticatee while a replay attack is underway and provides security against serial impersonation attacks, in addition to protection against eavesdropping, protection against replay attacks, and tamper-evidence at the authenticator.

摘要: The present invention provides a bus protocol interface circuit for the peripheral units that prevents a conflict in bus requests between the peripheral units and permits bipolar drivers to be used for fast operation. The interface circuit comprises a logic means coupled to the bus acknowledgment line input terminal and the bus acknowledgment line output terminal for generating a logic output signal responsive to the signals on the bus acknowledgement line input and output terminals, and latching means coupled between the bus request line and the bus request line terminal, and further connected to the output of the logic means and the bus acknowledgment line output terminal, for latching into a state consistent with a bus request signal from any one of the peripheral units and for unlatching from the consistent state upon receipt of a bus acknowledgment signal in response to the bus request signal.
