A connection includes a first and second surface stationary with respect to one another and a primary seal and secondary seal are formed between the surfaces and a labyrinth redundant seal is formed between the first and second surfaces and intermediate the primary and secondary seals. A connection for sealing against pressure may also include a retainer disposed within a housing receptacle a conduit disposed within a bore of the retainer. A primary seal may be formed between the conduit and the receptacle and a secondary seal may be formed between the retainer and the receptacle. A labyrinth seal may be formed between the retainer and the receptacle and intermediate the primary and secondary seals.
Abstract:
The present invention includes an improved cutting element substrate for cutting elements. The cutting element substrate includes non-planar, non-linear interfaces with an abrasive layer of superhard material affixed thereto often using a high pressure high temperature press apparatus. The cutting element substrate includes a cant intersecting a first and second interfacial surface. A plurality of truncated nodules intersects the first surface and extends towards the second surface. Arcuate segments protrude out of the second surface and are radially positioned along the surface. The truncated nodules are ill-aligned with the arcuate segments proximate the truncated nodules.
Abstract:
A system for a redundant star network is disclosed. The system consists of a control hub, one or more backup hubs, and at least one peripheral device (PD), the peripheral device comprising a housing having at least one selectable side transparent or opaque to radio frequency (RF) transmissions while the remaining sides are opaque to RF transmissions. The control hub controls the PD, for example by controlling how the PD operates under certain conditions. The PD includes a long-range, wireless transceiver and a microcontroller, which includes instructions for periodically testing, via test signals, whether the control hub is functional. In the case that the control hub does not respond to the test signals, the PD includes instructions for switching control of the PD to the backup hub, which also stores control instructions for the PD, similar to the control hub.
Abstract:
A hydronic panel and system for heating and/or cooling a room is disclosed. The hydronic panel includes a plurality of contiguous channels. A first chamber is located at a first end, preferably the upper end, of the panel and includes an inlet and communicates with a first subset of the channels. A second chamber is located at an opposite end of the panel and communicates with the first subset and also with a second subset of the channels. A third chamber is located at the first end of the panel, the third chamber communicates with the second subset of the channels and includes an outlet. In this configuration, heated or cooled water flows from the inlet into the first chamber, through the first subset of the channels, to the second chamber, through the second subset of the channels, into the third chamber and out the outlet. Consequently, the heated or cooled water can heat or cool the space. In addition to at least one hydronic panel, the system includes a source of heated and/or cooled water under sufficient pressure to cause the water to flow through the panel. The system also includes a controller to control one or both of the temperature of the water and the flow rate of the water through the panel.

Devices, systems, and methods for a frame with a slidable segment are disclosed. The slidable segment is slidably mounted within the frame. A first motor is coupled to the slidable segment. The first motor has a first gear affixed to and driven by the first motor. A first gear track may be mounted to a first horizontal member of the frame, wherein teeth of the first gear align with tooth spaces of the first gear track. Rotating the first gear in a first rotational direction causes the first gear to pull the slidable segment in a first linear direction as the first gear walks along the first gear track. Rotating the first gear in a second rotational direction causes the first gear to pull the slidable segment in a second linear direction as the first gear walks along the first gear track.

An overhead battery charger is disclosed. The overhead battery charger includes a source of electric power, for example an electrical outlet, as well as a power cord connected to the source of electric power. At least one battery connection device, such as alligator clamps, is attached to the power cord, and a controller adapted to adjust voltage, current, or both, is available at the battery connection device. In addition, a remote device, such as a smart phone, tablet, or computer, runs an app and sends signals to direct the adjustments made by the controller.
Abstract:
The antimicrobial toilet includes one or more pairs of electrodes positioned below a water line when the hydraulic circuit is at equilibrium. The pairs of electrodes may be connected to a power source by electrical wires. In some embodiments, the electrodes are positioned on the inner wall of the toilet bowl and in some embodiments, the electrodes are positioned within the siphon tube. In some embodiments, the electrodes are metal strips and in others they are circular. When actuated, an electrical current passes through the toilet water between the electrode pairs resulting in disinfected water. Some embodiments include a pump and water conduit which transfers disinfected water to areas above the water line and emits the water to wash areas of the toilet.

The pressure pad which pressure-sensing fabric which is within a gasket and which measures the distribution of pressure on the gasket. Thus, the gasket protects the pressure-sensing fabric from damage due to water or mechanical trauma. The pressure pad includes multiple piezoresistive depositions of piezoresistive depositions ink or paste which act as individual pressure-sensing points. Conductive tracks between the piezoresistive depositions transmit the pressure measurements in the form of electrical signals. The pressure-sensing fabric is connected to a controller and transmits pressure measurements to the controller. Algorithms stored on the controller create a map of absolute mechanical loading to each pressure-sensing point of the pressure pad. The gasket may be mounted beneath a toilet or between plumbing joints. The pressure pad may detect weaknesses in the gasket, a toilet user's weight, a weight of excrement added to the toilet, or a toilet user's posture.
Abstract:
A housing for a digital assistant is disclosed. The housing includes; a body holding the digital assistant; attachments for an overhead mounting system. Within the housing there is at least one electrical input; and at least one electrical output; along with a digital current limiter. The digital assistant is capable of receiving and implementing instructions via voice commands or a personal control device. The digital current limiter receives instructions from the digital assistant and in response to those instructions, regulates the current to components in communication with the digital assistant. A method for using the housing and digital assistant to create a smart garage system by regulating access to connected components is also disclosed.
Abstract:
An automated window mechanism with sensor informed calibration is disclosed. An electrically powered actuator moves a window between a closed position and an open position. A current sensor senses the current between a power source and the actuator when the actuator is moving the window. Informed by the current sensor, a processor determines a first endpoint when the window is in the closed position and a second endpoint when the window is in the open position for the window. A controller uses the endpoints to control the actuator to stop in either the first or the second endpoint as desired by a user. Sensors inform the controller, and user input via a mobile device enables both direct user control and programming of the controller.
