An input surface (130) can be flexibly attached to the rigid surface via a flexible member (140). The input surface can be disposed proximate at least a portion of the aperture. A gyroscopic sensor (150) can be operatively connected to the input surface.

    摘要: A force transducer, in particular a weighing cell, includes a spring body, which deforms under the action of a force or load to be measured, and a sensor that includes two separate sensor parts mounted at different locations of the spring body and that generates a sensor signal which is dependent on the relative position of the sensor parts with respect to each other. In order to improve the adaptation of the sensor to the spring body, one of the sensor parts is attached to the spring body with interposition of an electromechanical actuator and a control device is present, which controls the actuator dependent on the sensor signal in the direction of a reduction in the positional difference of the sensor parts.

    摘要: An apparatus includes a lever arm that couples to a pivot point on one end and a display on the other end. The lever arm rotates around the pivot point through a lever arm range of motion, and the weight of the display produces a display torque around the pivot point that varies as the lever arm rotates through the lever arm range of motion. The apparatus also includes a spring that couples to the lever arm using a cable. The spring produces, through the lever arm, a spring torque around the pivot point that is equally opposite of the display torque throughout the lever arm range of motion.

    摘要: A sensor pad for controlling the deployment of an automobile airbag. Weight sensing pad 10 is used in the seat 54 of an automobile, (not illustrated), to detect the presence of an occupant on the seat. Weight sensing pad 10 is used in conjunction with the vehicle's airbag control module in order to allow deployment of the airbag, in the event of a collision, only if the seat is occupied by a person of a preselected weight. Weight sensing pad 10 is defined by a bladder member 15 having an interior volume subdivided into a plurality of individual cells 42 in fluid communication with each other and that is filled with a non-compressible fluid 18, such as silicon or a silica gel of medium viscosity. A pressure tube 22 is in fluid communication with bladder 15 and is in further fluid communication with a pressure activated electronic transducer 26 which in turn is in electronic communication with the airbag controller 30. When a person sits upon weight sensing pad 10, there is a volumetric displacement of fluid 18 that provides a pressure change in the bladder member. If there is a sufficient pressure change due to the volumetric displacement of fluid to activate transducer 26, transducer 26 sends a signal to air bag controller 30. Electronic transducer 26 is selected to generate a signal upon detection of pressure resultant from the volumetric displacement of fluid 18 from bladder 15 expected from the average size adult of approximately one hundred pounds or heavier.

    摘要: An elastomeric seat bladder has upper and lower sheets of peripherally welded elastomeric material, and at least one of the upper and lower sheets of elastomeric material is sufficiently thick to effectively serve as an integral interface panel. In a first configuration, the lower sheet is formed of elastomeric material having a thickness in the range of 1 mm (0.04 inch) to 2.54 mm (0.100 inch), and the upper sheet is formed of elastomeric material having a thickness of approximately 0.375 mm (0.015 inch). In a second configuration, the relatively thick sheet of elastomeric material is utilized as the upper sheet of the bladder instead of the lower sheet; and in a third configuration, both upper and lower sheets of the bladder are formed of elastomeric material in the range of 1 mm (0.04 inch) to 2.54 mm (0.100 inch) in thickness.

    摘要: A force balancing method and apparatus detects small changes in force or pressure. An LC tuned circuit having a capacitor with at least one movable plate senses force or pressure changes. Deviations in the phase of the response of the tuned circuit are compared to the phase of a driving reference oscillator to generate an error signal. The error signal is used to control the oscillator to increase or decrease its output amplitude for driving the tuned circuit. As a result the electrostatic force across the capacitor plates tends to change in such a way as to precisely balance the effect of external force or pressure changes. The system therefore operates in a force-balance mode and in such a way as to provide a high sensitivity together with a precisely controlled stiffness. This system is particularly applicable to high sensitivity microphones, micro-topography, and atomic force microscopy.

In addition to monitoring the constant current source, other components (such as temperature sensor, current switch and compensation coil) may be monitored by corresponding comparisons.
