摘要： An improved method for making polyphosphoric acid from phosphoric acid includes the steps of introducing a first phosphoric acid feed stream into the top end of a packed column, introducing a second phosphoric acid feed stream into a stream of hot air to form a stream of hot air and acid, introducing the stream of hot air and acid into the bottom end of the column, and polymerizing phosphoric acid of the first and second phosphoric acid feed streams to make polyphosphoric acid. By-product phosphoric acids containing organic contaminants may be substituted for all or part of the phosphoric acid stream being introduced into the bottom end of the column to allow recovery of the phosphorus values of the by-product phosphoric acids.

摘要： A heating apparatus includes an elongated flexible envelope (4) comprising two sheets (6), (8) that are attached to each other along permanent side seams (10), (12) and along a permanent bottom seam (14) and a moisture-activated chemical heater (16) disposed inside envelope (4), wherein envelope (4) is folded over on itself and secured by temporary side seams (18), (20) and a permanent top seam (22) to form a continuous moisture barrier surrounding the moisture activated chemical heater (16) and wherein heater (2) may be opened for use by removing top seam (22) and unfolding envelope (4) by unpeeling temporary seals (18), (20) to provide unfolded envelope (4), wherein sheets (6) and (8) remain sealed along permanent seams (10), (12) and (14), but wherein envelope (4) now has an open top end (30).

The heat producing agglomerate provides high heat output at a controllable rate of heat generation, minimizes safety and environmental risks, and is useful as a heat-producing component in self-heating packaging.

摘要： An apparatus for tracking items in a factory is disclosed. The apparatus is partially well suited for manufacturing environments wherein there are a plurality of items to be kept together in groups. The invention is particularly useful in semiconductor processing facilities wherein batches of semiconductor wafers to be processed are placed in wafer carriers which are, in turn, placed in work-in-progress boxes. Applying identification tags to one item that can be read and processed by a microterminal attached to the other item provides an effective way to prevent improper grouping of the items which can lead to misprocessing or handling of the batches of wafers.
