Abstract:
A process of mechanical separation of embryos from seeds for genetic transplantation employs counter-rotating cylinders together with one or more culling, hydration, separation, and viability testing steps to provide high-throughput of viable, transplantable tissue.
Abstract:
A method is disclosed for the Agrobacterium-mediated germline genetic transformation of soybean. The method is based on Agrobacterium-mediated gene delivery to individual cells in a freshly germinated soybean meristem, which cells can be induced directly to form shoots that give rise to transgenic plants. This method does not involve callus-phase tissue culture and is rapid and efficient.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a laminated net, and more specifically to a laminate comprising a nonwoven fabric and knitted net to be utilized as rounded bale wrap, wherein the wrap maintains the integrity of the bale during, pick-up, transport, and storage. The net of the present invention is laminate to nonwoven fabric. The nonwoven fabric provides additional coverage to the rounded bale so as to maintain the compact shape of the bale during pick-up, transport, and storage.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a knitted net, and more specifically to an expandable knitted net. In one form, the net comprises a plurality of fill yarns with an elastomeric performance, which allows the net to expand in the cross-direction. In another form, the present invention is directed to a netting, and more specifically to a knitted netting comprising a plurality of chain yarns with dissimilar elongation performance oriented in a first direction, and a plurality of fill yarns oriented in a second direction, wherein the yarns oriented in the second direction secure the yarns oriented in the first direction in position within the netting.

Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a net, and more specifically to a knitted net comprising a plurality of chain and fill yarns comprising mono-filaments that decreases the overall mass of the net, yet increases the durability of the net. In accordance with the present invention, the netting is used as bale wrap.
Abstract:
Particles coated with a therapeutic agent are deposited onto the inner surface of a length of tubing using a process which includes introducing the particles into the tubing while the tubing is rotating horizontally. An apparatus for performing the process is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus is disclosed for the genetic transformation of soybean plants and plant lines by particle mediated transformation. Foreign genes are introduced into regenerable soybean tissues by coating on carrier particles which are physically accelerated into plant tissues. The treated plant tissues are then recovered and regenerated into whole sexually mature plants. The progeny are recovered from seed set by these plants and a portion of these progeny will contain in their genome the foreign gene. The procedure may be used to create novel genetically engineered soybean plants and lines.
Abstract:
A method is disclosed for the convenient transformation of the somatic cells of animals. Somatic cell transformation is useful for medical and veterinary care of genetic diseases, and other therapeutic or animal improvement purposes. The method makes use of an electric discharge particle acceleration apparatus which can inject very small particles of gold or other dense material carrying genetic constructs coated on them into the living cells of animals. The animals not only live, but there is no visible bruising or bleeding at the site of the treatment. The method is particularly adaptable since the force of the particle injection in such a spark discharge apparatus is adjustable by adjustments to the voltage of the spark discharge.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a method of wrapping a rounded bale, and more specifically, to a method of wrapping that fully envelopes the rounded bale and ties at either end so as to maintain the integrity of the bale during, pick-up, transport, and storage. In one embodiment, the wrap ties at either end. In other embodiments, the integrity of the bale is enhanced in that the wrap clings to the surface as well as the ends of the bales. The wrap may comprise elastomeric material to facilitate clinging and conformance to the bales.
