Abstract: A non-random-access video stream is received. A first image block is encoded after second image blocks according to a non-random-access processing order. View direction data is received to indicate a viewer's view direction coinciding with a location covered by the first image block. The first image block is encoded into the random-access video stream before the second image blocks in a random-access processing order. The random-access video stream is delivered to a recipient decoding device operated by the viewer to cause the first image block to be processed and rendered before the second image blocks according to the random-access processing order.

Abstract: Peripheral-vision expanded images are streamed to a video streaming client. A second peripheral-vision expanded image is generated from a second source image in reference to a second view direction of the viewer at a second time point. The second peripheral-vision expanded image has a focal-vision image portion covering the second view direction of the viewer and a peripheral-vision image portion outside the focal-vision image portion. The second peripheral-vision expanded image is transmitted to the video streaming client.

Abstract: A wearable device includes circuitry on substrate. The substrate is coupled to an optical element in an optical stack. A refractive index of the substrate perceptually matches a refractive index of the optical component. The circuitry is imperceptible to the viewer wearing the device, despite that the circuitry has a view of (or, as an example, an unobstructed line of sight to) the viewer's eye. The circuitry can include a camera or an emitter, or both. The camera captures one or more reflections of the emitter from the viewer's eye. In a specific embodiment, the substrate includes a waveguide, Fresnel lenses, or lens to bend light rays around from the circuitry to achieve the imperceptibility. In alternative embodiment, the circuitry can be a piezoelectric device, liquid crystal controller, or any electronic circuitry relevant for a wearable device.

Abstract: View direction data of the viewer is collected in real time while the viewer is viewing a first reconstructed omnidirectional image. The view direction data is sent to the video streaming server to cause generating image layers from an omnidirectional image in reference to a view direction of the viewer. The image layers comprising a focal-vision image layer and a peripheral-vision image layer. A second reconstructed omnidirectional image is generated from the image layers. The second reconstructed omnidirectional image is subsequently rendered to the viewer.
