A solar concentrator comprises an incidence surface, a first reflective curved surface corresponding to the incidence surface, a second reflective curved surface disposed in a center part of the incidence surface, and a concentrating part disposed in a center part of the first reflective curved surface and corresponding to the second reflective curved surface, wherein the incidence surface, the first reflective curved surface, the second reflective curved surface, and the concentrator include a substantially same material from each other.

A small antenna using an SRR structure in a wireless communication system includes: a first radiation unit positioned over a dielectric substrate formed of a predetermined dielectric medium and having a predetermined ring shape; a feed unit positioned over the dielectric substrate and configured to feed a signal to the first radiation unit; a second radiation unit positioned under the dielectric substrate and having a predetermined ring shape; a via formed through the dielectric substrate to connect the first and second radiation units; a ground unit positioned under the dielectric substrate and configured to ground the first and second radiation units; and a metal line unit positioned under the dielectric substrate to connect the second radiation unit and the ground unit. The feed unit includes first and second capacitors which accomplish impedance matching when the signal is fed to the first radiation unit.

A method and an apparatus for transmitting a signal in a communication system are provided. An information vector is encoded according to a Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) encoding scheme, thereby generating an LDPC codeword. Minimum surviving check nodes are reserved for recovery of punctured nodes in the LDPC codeword. A check node is selected having a smallest cost function from among unreserved check nodes. A variable node is selected being unpunctured and having a smallest cost function from among variable nodes connected to the selected check node. The selected variable node is punctured when the selected variable node is not connected to the reserved check node. A stopping set check is performed when the selected variable node is connected to the reserved check node. The variable node is punctured when the stopping set check has been successfully performed. The check node is selected until there remains no variable node to be punctured and puncturing the variable node.

A beam steering apparatus is provided. The beam steering apparatus is implemented to steer a beam in a specific direction according to arrangement of a plurality of unit structures which have different transmittance coefficients and are arranged on a medium. Thus, simplification of the application of the beam steering apparatus to an antenna and the like, a compact beam steering apparatus size, and reduction of manufacturing cost can be realized.

By controlling the average size of matrix grains of polycrystalline bodies to more than a critical size at which an abnormal, exaggerated or discontinuous grain growth ends, and less than twice the critical size, large single crystals enough for practical use may be made even without occurring abnormal grain growth in polycrystalline bodies only through a heat treatment process without using a melting process and a special apparatus, thereby allowing the mass production of the large single crystals at low costs with high reproduction possibility.

Disclosed is a method to transmit a signal in a Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) mobile communication system. The method includes determining a Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest (HARQ) scheme to be used for a transmission signal; determining a MIMO scheme to be used for the transmission signal in accordance with the determined HARQ scheme; and transmitting the transmission signal using the determined HARQ scheme and the determined MIMO scheme.
