    Abstract: A surfactant composition includes 60 wt % or greater of a surfactant based on a total weight of the surfactant composition and 0.01 wt % to 5 wt % of a hydroxyl amine having structure (I) based on the total weight of the surfactant composition, wherein R1, R2 and R3 of Structure (I) are independently selected from the group consisting of H, an alkanolamine, or a hydroxyl alkyl group with linear or branched carbon chain having from 1 to 8 carbons, and R4 of Structure (I) is selected from the group consisting of an alkanolamine, or a hydroxyl alkyl group with linear or branched carbon chain having from 1 to 8 carbons.

    Abstract: The present disclosure provides a process. In an embodiment, the process includes providing a first blend composed of nonanals, C8 olefins and C7-C9 alkanes. The process includes adding, to the first blend, a component selected from C4 aldehyde, C5 aldehyde, and combinations thereof to form a non-aqueous reaction mixture having an initial water content from 0 wt% to 10 wt % water. The process includes introducing an organic base catalyst to the non-aqueous reaction mixture and heating the non-aqueous reaction mixture to a temperature from 30° C. to 100° C. and cross-aldol condensing the non-aqueous reaction mixture. The process includes forming a cross-aldol product composed of a component selected from C8 enals, C10 enals, C13 enals, C14 enals, and C18 enals, and combinations thereof.

    Abstract: A method of producing an alcohol ethoxylate surfactant or lubricant, the method including reacting a low molecular weight initiator with ethylene oxide in the presence of a polymerization catalyst, the low molecular weight initiator having a nominal hydroxyl functionality at least 1, and the polymerization catalyst being a Lewis acid catalyst having the general formula M(R1)1(R2)1(R3)1(R4)0 or 1, whereas M is boron, aluminum, indium, bismuth or erbium, R1, R2, R3, and R4 are each independent, R1 includes a first fluoroalkyl-substituted phenyl group, R2 includes a second fluoroalkyl-substituted phenyl group or a first fluoro/chloro-substituted phenyl group, R3 includes a third fluoroalkyl-substituted phenyl group or a second fluoro/chloro-substituted phenyl group, and optional R4 includes a functional group or functional polymer group, R1 being different from at least one of R2 and R3. The method further including forming an alcohol ethoxylate surfactant or lubricant having a number average molecular weight of greater than the number average molecular weight of the low molecular weight initiator in the presence of the Lewis acid catalyst.

    Abstract: A water-based cutting fluid that comprises water and a water-soluble polyalkylene glycol (PAG) having cloud point from 30° C. to 80° C. The cutting fluid is water-based, i.e., it comprises at least 50 percent by weight (wt %) water. The cutting fluids are well suited for use with diamond wiresaws for the cutting of silicon ingots. The fluids exhibit one or more of low hydrogen generation, no wafer cleaning issues, good lubricity, good cooling efficiency, good swarf suspension and dispersion, low foaming, are generally non-sensitive to metal ions, and are nonflammable.
