    摘要: A harvester strips seeds from a standing crop while essentially leaving the stems of the crop attached to the soil. The harvester comprises a mobile main frame and a vertically adjustable harvesting header carried thereby. A first axially transverse rotor is mounted on the header with its axis generally below the level of substantially all the seeds on the standing crop. The first rotor includes a hub and outwardly projecting stripper elements. The stripper elements define longitudinally spaced openings on the rotor periphery of a width greater than upper seed-bearing heads of the crop, permitting the introduction of the seed-bearing heads into the rotor interior as the machine advances so that the seeds are impacted by sides of the stripper elements interiorly of the outer end thereof. A second axially transverse rotor is disposed parallel to, above and forwardly of the first rotor and has a generally cylindrical outer periphery adjacent the periphery of the first rotor. The axis of the second rotor is generally above the level of substantially all the seeds on the standing crop. A motor drives the rotors in opposite directions with the front side of the first rotor moving upwardly and the front side of the second rotor moving downwardly. The first rotor is driven so that the sides of the stripper elements impact the seeds disposed within the openings in the rotor in a generally stemwise direction to knock the seeds from the stems and propel them tangentially from the rotor. A crop collector is mounted on the header behind the rotors to receive the seeds propelled rearwardly from the rotors.

    摘要: A harvester includes a mobile vehicle with a forward vertically adjustable header that includes a mechanism for stripping grain from a standing crop as the machine advances while leaving the stem of the crop attached to the soil. The stripping mechanism including a pair of axially transverse vertically offset brush-type rotors having randomly spaced radial bristles, the upper rotor being disposed slightly forwardly of the lower and being driven so that its lower surface moves rearwardly in close proximity to the rearwardly moving upper surface of the lower roller that is driven in the opposite direction from the first rotor. The grain heads on most of the standing crop is disposed between the axes of the rotors, and the grain is stripped as the heads move into the bite between the rotors. A front blower directs a stream of air toward the bite and a rear blower directs a stream of air upwardly to the rear of the lower rotor, to create a lower pressure zone behind the rotors that assist the feeding of stripping material to a collector bin on the vehicle.

An nonconductive continuous belt moves a mixture of grain and chaff past an ionizing electrode, which imparts an electrical charge to the grain particles and the particles of chaff within the mixture. A grounded electrically conductive rotating drum spaced apart from the end of the continuous belt toward which the mixture of chaff and grain is transported so that the charged particles will be acted upon both by the force of gravity and the electrical field between the particles and the grounded drum with the result that the grain particles, having a greater ratio of mass density to electrical charge than do the particles of chaff will be influenced principally by gravity and caused to fall toward the ground while the particles of chaff will be influenced primarily by the electrostatic field and attracted to the drum, the rotation of which drum will move the attracted particles of chaff up and over the ground drum to the side of the grounded drum that is away from the continuous belt where a scraper assures that virtually all of the chaff is removed from the grounded drum.
