摘要: A method of determining one or more direct voltage reduction (DVR) factors at a point of load (POL) in a power grid voltage environment. An energy processing unit (EPU) is installed at each individual POL; each EPU includes at least one AC-AC series voltage regulator. An EPU-regulated output voltage is increased under specific controlled conditions. One or more independent DVR factors for each individual POL are determined during the increased and decreased EPU-regulated output voltage.

摘要: In the present legacy electrical power generation and distribution system, the power quality delivered to end consumers is being degraded by a number of disruptive technologies and legislative impacts; especially with the rapidly increasing myriad of privately owned and operated domestic and commercial distributed energy generation (DEG) devices connected at any point across a low voltage (LV) distribution network. The present invention bypasses this increasing critical DEG problem by offering a solution comprising an energy processing unit (EPU) that is installed at the electrical power point of use (POU).

摘要: A system for controlling and regulating the AC voltage level delivered to a load regardless of the varying input AC voltage comprises a high frequency AC series voltage regulator coupled with a low frequency operating mains transformer. In one embodiment, the LF operating mains transformer operates at electrical mains frequency, which is typically 50 Hz or 60 Hz. The magnetic core of the LF operating mains transformer may be made of industry standard low frequency core material selected from a material group including silicon steel and amorphous core such as ‘Metglass’. The AC series voltage regulator is connected to the primary of the LF operating mains transformer, and the secondary of the LF operating mains transformer is connected in series between the mains input (which receives the unregulated input AC voltage to be regulated) and its output (which outputs the regulated AC voltage to the loads).

摘要: An apparatus is provided for minimizing the peak power demand on an inverter in a power supply with one or more switched reactive loads comprising an AC semiconductor bypass switch connected in parallel with the inverter and a bypass control device. The bypass control device includes filters for selecting load current signals with specific frequencies of interest from the switched reactive loads; a signal processor for sampling and transforming the selected load current signals into frequency domain to identify frequency components of the selected load current signal; an amplitude detector for detecting peak current amplitudes of the identified frequency components of the selected load current signal; and a bypass driver.

摘要: Audio Frequency Load Control (AFLC) signal processing electronics added to a power factor correction (PFC) unit allowing the AFLC system to operate without the need of large and heavy passive bypass or blocking filters at the PFC installations. The AFLC signal processing electronics a first group of additional electronics tuned to the AFLC frequency for detecting the AFLC carrier signal; and a second group of additional electronics for driving an AFLC impedance switch that is connected in parallel with an AFLC impedance. The AFLC impedance is connected in series with the PFC capacitors, and is sufficiently large to offer significant impedance in series with the PFC capacitors that allows the AFLC signal to bypass the PFC unit.

摘要: A device and method are provided for monitoring quality and performance parameters of an electricity distribution component in an electricity distribution network and detecting any deviation of operating parameters from the specified regulatory set and enforced limits. The critical and increasing problem is mitigated for the myriad of private domestic and commercial DEG devices being installed and connected to the distribution networks which were not initially designed for, or even not anticipated with, the recent DEG evolution, and the increasing complex electrical components with changing loads and power factors across the distribution network.

摘要: A high-efficiency system for conducting power factor (PF) and harmonics correction in an electrical network, comprising a controller; a digital PFC capacitor array comprising two or more passive PFC capacitors, providing fine steps increments in the PF correction; and linear PFC capacitor arrays, providing coarse steps increments in the PF correction. The PF correction in coarse steps increments and fine steps increments allow a total or near total PF correction without overcompensation. Optionally, the system further comprises a lower power active power filter (APF) configured to only target and eliminate or minimize harmonics in the electrical network.

摘要: An energy saving alternate current (AC) series voltage regulator comprises an AC high frequency (HF) series voltage buck power regulator, a bypass contactor (K1), a bidirectional AC semiconductor device (S1) connected in parallel with the bypass contactor and a control circuitry. Under the condition of an input AC mains voltage (Vin) drops below a specified and set optimum energy savings voltage or a lower selected voltage point, the control circuitry transitions both the slow bypass contactor and the fast bidirectional AC semiconductor device, then the AC high frequency (HF) series voltage buck power regulator are switched out to save the AC high frequency (HF) series voltage buck power regulator internal power electronics usage. Under this condition, the lower input AC mains voltage is directly delivered to an electrical load by the contactor bypass system, hence achieving more energy savings.
