The system including second switch operative, when closed, to connect the first converter and the second converter in parallel to the rotor portion while the generator is operating in a running condition, wherein the second switch is open while the generator is operating in the starting condition.

The voltage regulator may be configured to control real power production by the wind turbine generator based on the voltage setpoint. The voltage regulator may have a second time constant, wherein the first time constant is numerically greater than the second time constant.
