    摘要: A computing device collects data from one or more data sources. The data sources are separate from a social networking service. The computing device uses the data from the data sources to generate group membership suggestions for members of a given user's social network. Because the computing device suggests the group memberships, the given user may be more likely to assign members of the given user's social network to groups. When the given user shares posts on the social networking service, the given user can limit access to the posts to members of selected groups.

    摘要: Optimized color codecs and methods of compressing and decompressing color images using programmable color space parameters are provided. In accordance with one method of encoding a color image, input data comprising input image pixel data and color space parameters is provided. The input image pixel data is compressed based on the color space parameter data. The color space parameter data is then appended to the compressed image pixel data. In accordance with one method of decoding a compressed color image, compressed data is provided that comprises compressed image pixel data and color space parameters. The color space parameters are separated from the compressed image pixel data. The compressed image pixel data is then decompressed based on the color space parameters.

    摘要: A method and apparatus is described for recording or auditing events. In one example, a device is connected to a first host device and may receive data from the first host device. The first host device may further be connected in a network of devices. The device may be disconnected from the first host device and may be connected to a second host device, the second host device not being fully connected to the network. The device may store data and may further contain a log file in memory for tracking or auditing events that occur associated with the data and/or associated with the second host device. The log file may be transferred to the first host device after the device is re-connected with the first host device.

A fax account allows a user to secure their faxed documents and organize and streamline fax communication via different transports. In at least some embodiments, security is enhanced through the use of an authentication model that authenticates individual users before giving them access to the fax functionality or, more accurately, their fax account. In at least some embodiments, fax accounts also provide users with an infrastructure through which they can manage their documents. In addition, in at least some embodiments, fax accounts can be used to manage and direct received faxes to the intended recipient, thus reducing the possibility of an unintended recipient gaining access to the fax.

    摘要: The output mode of an output device for rendering electronic images on an output medium may be characterized by different user-selectable settings such as: paper type, ink type, etc. Apart from the screen characteristics such as screen ruling, frequency and angle, a calibration curve can be communicated via the page description language (e.g. PostScript Level 2) for each color component. Sets of calibration curves can be prepared for specific types of rendering, and be referenced by name. By this name indirection and by naming conventions based upon the output mode or screening parameters, calibration changes can be introduced quickly and consistently.
