    摘要: A tissue collection apparatus maximizes the collection and retention of tissue samples from within a patient. The apparatus comprises a handle with a hollow catheter flexibly extending distally from the handle. A cytology brush is stored within the hollow at a distal end of the cannula, and can be extended and retracted from the cannula by manipulating the handle. The cytology brush has a cylindrical proximal brush, a cylindrical distal brush, and a tissue collection gap longitudinally separating the proximal and distal brushes. The bristles of the brushes can have different material properties and can have an effective diameter greater than the cannula. In use, tissue samples accumulate within the bristles and within the tissue collection gap. When retracted into the hollow of the cannula, the apparatus maximizes the amount of tissue collected by folding the bristles over the tissue collection gap to shield the tissue samples collected within.

The valve includes an outer shell and a plurality of disks. The outer shell has a proximal end adapted for insertion of an instrument, interior walls defining a cavity, and a distal end adapted for connection to the instrument inlet port. The plurality of disks are disposed within the cavity in a stacked orientation. Each disks has an aperture therethrough for insertion of an instrument. The plurality of disks cooperate to maintain a seal around an instrument inserted through the valve.

    摘要: A device for delivering an apparatus or object to a targeted location within a human subject is disclosed. The device includes a body, a handle mounted to and movable relative to the body, a tube, a cable, and retention unit. The tube has a first end fixed to the body and a second end fixed to the retention unit. The cable has a first end fixed to the handle and a second end remote from the body. The cable extends substantially through the tube. The retention unit applies a retention force sufficient to retain the capsule during endoscopic delivery to the targeted release location. Manipulation of the handle in a direction relative to the retention unit generates a force on the apparatus greater than the retention force. A method of use is also disclosed.

    摘要: An endoscopic surgical device for retrieving objects, such as for example, severed human tissue, foreign objects or impacted food bolus, from within a subject is disclosed. The device includes a body and handle movable relative to the body, a tubular member fixed to the body, a link having a first end fixed to the handle and a second end remote from the body, and a net including a loop and a net element. The loop is expandable and collapsible by action of the handle relative to the body. The loop retains an expanded configuration when deployed to allow for the capture certain objects that were otherwise difficult to capture because of positioning, location, or object characteristics. The loop may be constructed of flat wire and form a polygon shape when deployed. Structure at the distal end of the loop may propel and retain the loop into an open position when in use in narrow organs such as the esophagus.
