Abstract:
Refractory modules are provided by multiple preformed refractory blocks bonded to one another by a bonding agent to form an integral self-supporting structure having a tooth and channel arrangement for interlocking assembly with a similar adjacently positioned refractory module.
Abstract:
Coke oven corbel structures are provided with a multiple number of stacked refractory slabs defining a corresponding multiple number of tiers of the corbel structure. The multiple number of stacked refractory slabs define a pair of substantially vertically oriented central fuel gas passageways and pairs of combustion air passageways laterally of a respective one of the central fuel gas passageways. A plurality of vertically stacked fuel gas blocks each defining a central fuel gas conduit may be positioned within each of the central fuel gas passageways
Abstract:
Glass furnace regenerators having opposed pairs of side and end walls formed of refractory blocks, a crown arch assembly forming an arched roof of the regenerator, and a rider arch assembly forming an interior floor of the regenerator are provided, wherein at least one of the crown arch assembly and rider arch assembly is formed of adjacently positioned one-piece monolithic pre-cast structures of refractory materials.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for constructing refractory structures, e.g., glass furnace regenerator structures and/or glass furnace structures having walls formed of refractory block and buck stays externally supporting the walls are provided. Opposed pairs of supports are connected to at least a respective one of the vertically oriented buck stays with cross-support beams spanning the refractory structure between a respective pair of the supports. An overhead crane assembly is supported by the cross-support beams. In such a manner, refractory components of the refractory structure (e.g., refractory wall blocks and/or refractory checker bricks) may be installed using the overhead crane assembly.
Abstract:
Coke oven corbel structures include an assembly of multiple stacked tiers of refractory blocks defining a plurality of substantially vertically oriented central flues. A first tier of refractory blocks in the assembly includes a series of lower cradle blocks defining respective lower semi-circular surfaces extending from one end to another end of the corbel structure. A second tier of the refractory blocks in the assembly includes a series of upper crown blocks defining respective upper semi-circular surfaces extending from one end to another end of the corbel structure. At least one set of the upper crown blocks in the second tier of refractory blocks defines respective substantially vertical segments of the vertically oriented central flues of the corbel structure which is in fluid communication with a cylindrical channel of the corbel structure.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are provided for constructing refractory structures, e.g., glass furnace regenerator structures and/or glass furnace structures formed of refractory components, by positioning opposed pairs of vertically oriented base beams on respective opposite sides of the refractory structure and having a lower end rigidly attached to a foundation of the refractory structure and an upper end which extends vertically above the refractory structure, and attaching cross-support beams to respective ones of the base beams at the upper end thereof so as to latitudinally span the refractory structure. An overhead crane assembly may thus be supported by the cross-support beams.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are provided for constructing refractory structures, e.g., glass furnace regenerator structures and/or glass furnace structures formed of refractory components, the refractory structure being housed within a building having a roof support elements. Cross-support beams are provided to latitudinally span the refractory structure and are suspended from roof support elements associated with the building housing the refractory structure by a suspension support system attached to the cross-support beams. An overhead crane assembly may thus be supported by the cross-support beams.
Abstract:
Refractory components (e.g. crown or rider arches associated with a refractory structure such as coke ovens, glass furnaces, regenerators and the like) are provided by multiple refractory members bonded to one another by a bonding agent to form an integral self-supporting structure.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for constructing a refractory wall structure having gas flue spaces are provided. In certain embodiments, a first course of the wall structure may be constructed by installing opposing refractory side wall panels that are separated by a distance which defines a widthwise dimension of the wall structure and an interior wall space therebetween. The side wall panels may include multiple sets of finger forms defining a joint space (e.g., a dovetail joint space), whereby the finger forms protrude inwardly into the interior wall space such that the sets of finger forms of one side panel are oppositely positioned relative to the sets of finger forms of an opposed side wall panel. Thereafter, a series of rigid refractory bridge components may be installed between respective oppositely positioned sets of the finger forms of the opposed wall panels so that a portion of the refractory bridge components is received with the joint space of the finger forms to thereby establish the flue spaces between longitudinally adjacent ones of the bridge components.
