Abstract: A method of determining a physical property of a finger using a sensor comprising a two-dimensional measuring arrangement including a plurality of measuring elements, each defining a measuring element position in the measuring arrangement, and each comprising a finger electrode spaced apart from the finger by a dielectric structure. For each measuring element position, the method comprises the steps of performing a first sensing operation using a first capacitive configuration, acquiring a first measurement value for the first capacitive configuration, performing a second sensing operation using a second capacitive configuration, acquiring a second measurement value for the second capacitive configuration. The physical property of the finger is determined based on the first and second measurement values for each measuring element position.

Abstract: There is provided a capacitive fingerprint sensing device for sensing a fingerprint pattern of a finger, the capacitive fingerprint sensor comprising: a protective dielectric top layer to be touched by the finger; a two-dimensional array of electrically conductive sensing structures arranged underneath the top layer; readout circuitry coupled to each of the electrically conductive sensing structures to receive a sensing signal indicative of a distance between the finger and the sensing structure, the readout circuitry comprising a plurality of signal amplifiers arranged underneath the array of electrically conductive sensing structures, wherein a number of signal amplifiers is lower than a number of sensing structures; and selection circuitry coupling each of the sensing structures to at least one signal amplifier and configured to select a sensing structure to be coupled to a corresponding signal amplifier. There is also provided a method for controlling a fingerprint sensing device.

Abstract: A fingerprint sensing device comprising sensing circuitry comprising a plurality of sensing elements, each sensing element comprising a sensing structure arranged in a sensing plane and facing a surface of the capacitive fingerprint sensing device, each of the sensing elements being configured to provide a signal indicative of an electromagnetic coupling between the sensing structure and a finger placed on the surface of the fingerprint sensing device; and a plurality of connection pads electrically connected to the sensing circuitry for providing an electrical connection between the sensing circuitry and readout circuitry, wherein each of the connection pads is separately recessed in relation to the sensing plane such that each connection pad has a floor in a floor plane, and wherein each connection pad is separated from an adjacent connection pad through a portion of the sensing device being elevated in relation to the floor plane.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for transitioning a device controller comprised with an electronic device from an at least partly inactive mode to an at least partly active mode, wherein the method comprises: determining the area portion of a finger detecting structure being touched by an object; determining a force applied on the fingerprint sensing device. When the area portion of the finger detecting structure being touched by the object exceeds a predetermined threshold area portion, and the force exceeds a predetermined threshold force value, transitioning, using the pre-processing module, the device controller from the at least partly inactive mode to the at least partly active mode. The invention also relates to such an electronic device.

Abstract: A method of determining a representation of a fingerprint pattern of a finger using a fingerprint sensor comprising a two-dimensional measuring arrangement including a plurality of measuring elements, each comprising a finger electrode spaced apart from the finger by a dielectric structure.
