摘要: An apparatus for clearing obstructive tissue from a body vessel or enlarging the lumen of the vessel comprises a balloon catheter which is insertable into the vessel of a patient to position the balloon in the area to be enlarged or against the obstructive tissue. A syringe is provided to incrementally inflate the balloon with a reasonably incompressible fluid to apply pressure against the inside of the vessel for opening the vessel. A pressure transducer senses fluid pressure in the balloon and an interval timer is used to monitor the rate of change in this fluid pressure. The rates of change in fluid pressure between the incremental inflations are monitored to determine vessel compliance, to determine when the stenosis is cleared, and to indicate when the vessel is stretched to, or near, its elastic limit.

摘要: A labeled article, a method of making the labeled article, and a label for use in such method, contemplate the manufacture of an article having an article body made of a moldable material, and a label, integral with the article body and having an outer label surface coplanar with the outer article body surface. The label is inserted into the mold and molded into place as the article body is molded. The label has an outer film ply defining the outer label surface, a printable sheet ply inward from said outer film ply, and an adhesive layer between the outer film ply and the printable sheet ply. The outer film ply has a length and a width greater than the length and width of the printable sheet ply. The outer film ply extends beyond the printable sheet ply adjacent all edges of the printable sheet ply and shields the printable sheet ply from exposure to the environment surrounding the labeled article.

摘要: A method is disclosed for molding parts. The system comprises a plasticator and press. The plasticator is capable of receiving a plurality of molding materials comprising a predetermined amount of at least thermoplastic polymers and long reinforcing fibers, such as glass fiber. The plasticator is characterized in that it is capable of simultaneously receiving contaminated molding materials and relatively long glass fibers and molding them into a billet wherein the fibers remain substantially undamaged. The billet is subsequently placed in a compression molding press where other materials may be molded or applied to its surface. The method is further characterized in that a single thermal rise is used to plasticate the molding materials. The system employed by the method comprises a plasticator having a screw, a screw drive system, a plurality of heaters and control system to control the pressure and temperature in a barrel of the plasticator so as to create a billet having certain predetermined billet characteristics (such as a desired volume and/or density).
