Abstract:
An imaging and display system is provided for a vehicle having: a video display disposed in an interior of the vehicle; a visible light video camera configured to capture a visible light video stream of a scene in a visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum; a long-range IR video camera configured to capture an IR video stream of the scene in an IR region of the electromagnetic spectrum; and a processing circuit for receiving the visible light video stream and the IR video stream for generating a composite video stream including at least part of the visible light video stream superimposed with at least part of the IR video stream, the processing circuit configured to supply the composite video stream to the video display for display thereon.
Abstract:
A motorcycle comprising: a lighting system including a plurality of lamps, each of which is configured to illuminate a different region of a plurality of regions relative to the motorcycle; one or more imaging assemblies, each of which includes an image sensor configured to generate image data; and a controller in communication with each of the plurality of lamps that receives as input the image data that the image sensor from each of the one or more imaging assemblies generates, analyzes the image data, detects a vehicle from the image data, and activates whichever lamp of the plurality of lamps that illuminates the region of the plurality of regions that is closest to the vehicle to provide a visual warning to the vehicle of the motorcycle.
Abstract:
An imaging system for a vehicle is disclosed. The imaging system comprises an imager configured to capture image data in a forward directed field of view relative the vehicle and an inertial sensor configured to measure a bank angle of the vehicle. A controller is in communication with the imager and the inertial sensor. The controller is configured to receive the image data comprising an imaging area and process the image data with enhanced sensitivity in at least one processing window within the imaging area. The controller is further configured to adjust a location of the processing window within the imaging area based on the bank angle and detect an object in the processing window.
Abstract:
An imaging system and method for a vehicle is provided, and includes an imager configured to image a scene external and forward of the vehicle and to generate image data corresponding to the acquired images. A controller is configured to receive the image data and analyze an optical flow between successive image frames to compute a relative motion between the imager and the imaged scene, wherein the optical flow includes a pattern of apparent motion of objects of interest in the successive image frames.
Abstract:
An imaging system and method for fog detection are disclosed herein. An imager is configured to image a scene external and forward of a controlled vehicle and to generate image data corresponding to the acquired images. A controller is configured to receive and analyze the image data. When exterior lights of the controlled vehicle are operated in a low beam state, the controller is able to detect light sources of interest in the image data, determine if each light source of interest is a foggy light or a clear light, and generate a first signal if a fog entry condition is satisfied.

Abstract:
A vehicle speed monitoring system and method is provided that determines a speed threshold based on provided inputs from various vehicle systems and measures the speed threshold against the current driving speed. In the event the threshold speed is exceeded, the system notifies the driver and/or makes a recommendation depending on the present driving conditions.
