Abstract: An operating theatre light comprising at least one environmental sensor. The operating theatre light includes a sensor housing attached to the operating theatre light. The sensor housing defines an enclosure containing the at least one environmental sensor. The sensor housing is protected (e.g. sealed) against the ingress of liquid to the enclosure. The operating theatre light may have a transmitter or transceiver or wired connection for transmitting environmental sensor data produced by the at least one environmental sensor. An operating theatre system comprising the operating theatre light and a control panel comprising a receiver or transceiver configured to receive environmental sensor data transmitted by the operating theatre light.

Abstract: A surgical lighting system includes a light head housing, a handle, and a camera. The light head housing includes a plurality of light emitting elements therein that are arranged to emit light downward to a region of interest. The handle is mounted to the light head housing and protrudes downward from the light head housing, the handle including a handle housing having a sufficient size to be gripped by the human hand. A camera is mounted within the handle housing, the camera having a field of view that encompasses at least a portion of the region of interest. The handle housing has an upper generally tubular section mounted to the light head housing and a lower generally tubular section extending downward from a bottom of the upper generally tubular section. The outer perimeter of the lower generally tubular section is relatively wider in axial cross section than the outer perimeter of the upper generally tubular section over a portion of the upper generally tubular section.

Abstract: An illumination device (100) includes an illumination unit (1, 2) which illuminates a surface (Ob). The position and the orientation of the illumination unit (1, 2) relative to the surface (Ob) can be changed. A distance sensor (4.1, 8.2) measures an indicator of the current distance between the illumination unit (1, 2) and the surface (Ob). A signal processing control unit (10) is configured to control an output unit (6.1, 6.2) of the illumination unit (1, 2). The controlled output unit (6.1, 6.2) outputs an indication of how much the measured distance deviates from a predetermined reference distance (Ref1, Ref2).

Abstract: An illumination system for a lighting assembly comprises a light assembly configured to selectively illuminate an operating region in a surgical suite and a plurality of light sources positioned within the light assembly and configured to emit light. The system further comprises at least one imager configured to capture image data and a controller. The controller is configured to scan the image data in at least one region of interest for a shaded region and identify a location of the shaded region within the region of interest. The controller is further configured to control the light assembly to activate at least one of the light sources to emit light impinging on the shaded region within the region of interest.

Abstract: Disclosure herein are aerodynamic surgical lights and methods of manufacturing and use thereof. The aerodynamic surgical lights may include a light head made of one or more substantially toroidal light housings. The substantially toroidal light housings contain and protect a plurality of LED lights and their respective reflectors that aim a light beam toward the lower side of the substantially toroidal light housings. The substantially toroidal light housings are vertically elongate. The vertically elongated substantially toroidal light housings include upper sections that are aerodynamically curved or pointed to streamline airflow past the light housings. The upper sections of the substantially toroidal light housings are made of molded plastic resin reinforced with carbon fibers or glass fibers and the lower sections of the substantially toroidal light housings are made of a clear moldable plastic.

Abstract: A patient warming system for stabilizing and/or heating and cooling a patient includes a plurality of solid-surface sections arranged for attachment to a surgical table and a warming pad layer comprising a plurality of warming pads configured for removable connection to the plurality of solid-surface sections. At least one of the plurality of solid-surface sections includes a power connector for connection to an external power source. Each warming pad of the plurality of warming pads includes a foam insulation layer, a distributed heating element layer having a warming-pad power connection for connection to the power connector, an isothermal layer, and a flexible waterproof layer. Power supplied to the warming-pad power connection of the distributed heating element layer of the respective warming pad can be used to provide a user-selected uniform temperature over the surface of the flexible waterproof layer in order to prevent hot spots.
