Abstract: A smart lighting device, and a system including one or more smart lighting devices, that are well-suited for use in at-home setting. The devices may be configured as night lights, and can provide continuous monitoring of a person in the at-home setting and provide alerts to the person of potential fall risk areas in the home. Further, the devices may provide alerts to others (other designated persons/organizations), e.g., in the event of a fall or fall risk. Further, the devices may recognize unknown persons in the home, and provide alerts to others. The system may be configured to route these alerts to according to user preference and/or a severity of the detected situation/alert.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, apparatus, article of manufacture, method and/or computer program product embodiments, and/or combinations and sub-combinations thereof, for a dimmer device including a driver, and a controller communicatively coupled to the driver and to a monitor device. The monitor device can include a camera and is configured to take a plurality of images of the illumination load. The controller provides a control signal that indicates to the driver to adjust power supplied to an illumination load. The control signal is provided in response to a determination that a performance of the illumination load fails to satisfy a predetermined performance indicator. The performance of the illumination load is determined based on information related to the plurality of images of the illumination load taken by the camera of the monitor device. The controller can adjust a dimming level of the illumination load by providing the control signal to the driver.

Abstract: The present invention provides a system comprising a luminaire and a camera module. The luminaire and the camera module each comprise an interface for mechanically and electrically connecting the camera module and the luminaire with each other. The luminaire is configured to electrically supply the camera module with electrical energy via the interface of the luminaire and the interface of the camera module, when the interface of the camera module is electrically and mechanically connected to the interface of the luminaire. The camera module comprises a control circuit and at least one image sensor. The image sensor is configured to detect an image of an area within the detection field of the camera module and provide the image in the form of image data to the control circuit. The control circuit is configured to determine information on the area by extracting the information from the image data.

Abstract: Head-mounted accessories for surgeons and medical/dental practitioners are equipped with no-touch, hands-free controls. A voice-activated headlamp includes a controller operative to send a signal to control a light source in accordance with a voice command received through an integrated or remote microphone. The voice command and control may be speaker-dependent or speaker-independent, and the head-mounted unit may include an interface to a computer for voice-command training or other purposes. The head-mounted unit includes a memory for storing the voice commands. The invention may be used to control other medical/dental accessories such as a head-mounted video camera, in which case the controller is further operative to at least turn the video camera ON or OFF. More preferably, a controller is additionally operative to control the focus or zoom of the video camera in accordance with a voice command.

Abstract: A visible light sensor may be configured to sense environmental characteristics of a space using an image of the space. The visible light sensor may be controlled in one or more modes, including a daylight glare sensor mode, a daylighting sensor mode, a color sensor mode, and/or an occupancy/vacancy sensor mode. In the daylight glare sensor mode, the visible light sensor may be configured to decrease or eliminate glare within a space. In the daylighting sensor mode and the color sensor mode, the visible light sensor may be configured to provide a preferred amount of light and color temperature, respectively, within the space. In the occupancy/vacancy sensor mode, the visible light sensor may be configured to detect an occupancy/vacancy condition within the space and adjust one or more control devices according to the occupation or vacancy of the space. The visible light sensor may be configured to protect the privacy of users within the space via software, a removable module, and/or a special sensor.
