Abstract: A system for receiving radio signals for a vehicle includes an antenna farm unit including a plurality of antennas, a plurality of amplifiers, each of the plurality of amplifiers in electrical communication with one of the plurality of antennas, and a multiplexer in electrical communication with the output port of each of the plurality of amplifiers. The system also includes a radio unit including a plurality of tuners and a demultiplexer in electrical communication with the plurality of tuners. The system also includes a transmission line for connecting the antenna farm unit to the radio unit, where the transmission line has a first terminal and a second terminal, and where the first terminal of the transmission line is electrically connected to the multiplexer and the second terminal of the transmission line is electrically connected to the demultiplexer.

Abstract: An antenna system for a vehicle includes a first antenna array affixed to the vehicle and a remote antenna system. A first connector is affixed to the vehicle, and is connected to the controllable switch. The remote antenna system includes a second antenna array including a second active antenna and a wiring harness. The wiring harness includes a second signal lead connected to the second active antenna, a ground lead, and a second connector. The signal lead and the ground lead connect the second active antenna of the second antenna array to the second connector. The first connector is connectable to the second connector, and the switch array communicates signals from the second antenna array to the on-vehicle controller when the second connector of the second antenna array is connected to the first connector.

Abstract: A mount system, such as for a vehicle antenna, includes a module with a ground. A fastener extends into the module. A retainer clip moves from an undeployed position to a deployed position by operation of the fastener. The fastener extends through a deployment ramp block. The deployment ramp block engages and guides the retainer clip from the undeployed position to the deployed position, by operation of the fastener. The mount system is configured to effect grounding of the ground to the product and to retain the module in position on the product.

Abstract: A thin film, flexible, leaky-wave CPW antenna that can mounted to a dielectric substrate on a vehicle, such as vehicle glass, where the antenna has application for a MIMO LTE cellular system, and where the conductive portion of the antenna can employ transparent conductors. The antenna includes a ground plane having opposing first and second ground lines defining a gap therebetween and an antenna radiating element extending between the ground lines in the gap. The antenna radiating element includes a plurality of leaky-wave tuning stubs crossing the antenna radiating element at predetermined intervals that operates to change the radiation pattern of the antenna to be more parallel to the ground.

Abstract: A vehicle communication system may include a first vehicle node, a second vehicle node, and a fiber optic node connection. The first vehicle node includes an electronic processing unit coupled to a first communication circuit that includes a plurality of self-configuring optical cells. The fiber optic node connection couples the first vehicle node to the second vehicle node using at least some of the self-configuring optical cells. In response to a trigger event, the electronic processing unit is adapted to configure the plurality of self-configuring optical cells to enable communication between the first and second vehicle nodes via the fiber optic node connection.
