摘要: An all-optical cross-connect switching system provides optical switching that may reduce processing requirements by three orders of magnitude over conventional techniques by associating at least one optical detector with an optical beam steering element. In one embodiment, a first beam steering element, having a reflective surface in optical association with a first optical fiber array, and a second beam steering element, having a reflective surface in optical association with a second optical fiber array, are optically arranged to direct an optical beam from a first optical fiber in the first optical fiber array to a second optical fiber in the second optical fiber array. The optical detector provides information about a first position of the optical beam on the second beam steering element. Based on this information, the angle of the first beam steering element may be adjusted to cause the optical beam to change to a second position on the second beam steering element.

摘要: A multimode fiber optical fiber transmission system includes an improved configuration for launching a single mode long wavelength transmission signal into existing multimode optical fiber networks. More specifically, the invention utilizes new single mode long wavelength VCSEL devices to realize a novel transmitter/transceiver for multimode fiber links where offset launch with controlled mode conditioning is achieved without the use of a mode conditioning patchcord, and in some embodiments, without the use of any collecting or focusing elements.

摘要: A method and system for estimating the volume of blood ejected from the left ventricle of the heart to a succeeding chamber/conduit, or vice-versa, while imaging the intersection of such structures is described. The process utilizes either the M-mode to estimate volume differences in a view of the ventricle over time or Doppler processing techniques to obtain flow profiles across intersections (e.g., valves), or blood vessels, which are then utilized to calculate output. This process can be combined with ECG guidance/triggering to measure/track changes in output from beat to beat, or during the course of an evaluation or therapeutic procedure. This process can be specifically used for the placement of permanent pacemaker electrodes.

摘要: This invention relates to a pneumatic rubber tire having a circumferential tread containing an outer tread rubber layer, wherein said outer tread rubber layer contains an outer tire running surface, comprised of an electrically insulating (poorly electrically conducting) rubber composition and wherein said tread additionally contains a circumferential tread component in a form of an inverted “T” configuration comprised of a relatively electrically conducting rubber composition (relative to said outer tread rubber strip) wherein the stem of said inverted “T” configured tread component extends through said outer tread rubber layer to its running surface to thereby provide a path of least electrical resistance through said outer tread strip to its running surface and wherein the base of said “T” configured tread component underlies a portion of said outer tread rubber layer and is less than, and therefore not entirely co-extensive with, the axial width of said outer tread rubber layer.
