    摘要: A fiber optic connector assembly includes a connector housing, a connector base, and an optical fiber connector. The connector housing extends along a center axis from a mating end to a cable receiving end with a passage extending therebetween. The mating end is received in a mating connector that is mounted to a panel. The connector base is secured to the mating end of the connector housing and includes a channel extending therethrough. The channel receives an optical fiber. The optical fiber connector is coupled to the optical fiber and mates with the mating connector to optically couple the optical fiber with the mating connector. The optical fiber connector is slidably joined to the connector base to permit the optical fiber connector to axially move along the center axis relative to the connector housing when the connector housing mates with the mating connector.

    摘要: A multi-fiber fiber-optic connector is provided containing a cartridge having a front radial flange containing peripheral, circumferentially-spaced notches in each of which a fiber-optic terminal is axially positioned, and having a rear radial flange containing peripheral, circumferentially-spaced notches in each of which a fiber-optic clamp body is axially positioned. The fiber-optic terminals are spring-biased forwardly toward the open end of the connector, and a preload plate holds them in a preloaded state. Each of the terminals is provided at its outer end with a surrounding, axially-extending resilient split sleeve, the outer end of which is empty to receive a fiber-optic terminal of a mating conductor similar to the above-described connector, but without the split sleeves. Each fiber extends between the front flange and the rear flange non-axially, the crimp-held end of each fiber instead being aligned with the fiber-optic terminal circumferentially next to the one which is aligned with the crimp body for that fiber.

    摘要: The invention pertains to an optical coupling method and apparatus in which the connectors are hermaphroditic and each connector comprises a ferrule that provides (1) the coarse alignment of the fibers, (2) the fine alignment of the fibers, and (3) the releasable latching of two such ferrules to each other. Hence, two such ferrules can be used to connect optical fibers without the need for connector housings. The ferrule of this system includes an alignment protrusion and a complementary alignment hole on the front face of the ferrule for providing the fine alignment. Coarse alignment is provided by longitudinally-directed protrusions extending forwardly of the front face, and recesses in the ferrule that are complementary to the protrusion such that two such ferrules can be mated to each other with the protrusions of one such ferrule fitting snugly within the recesses of the other such ferrule. A releasable latching mechanism is provided on one or more of the protrusions and its complementary recess, such as a bump on one of the protrusion and recess and a mating divot on the other.

The support sleeve includes a raceway that receives the fiber optic cable. The support sleeve has a first end segment and a second end segment. The support sleeve has a first attachment point proximate to the first end segment and a second attachment point proximate to the second end segment. The support sleeve is held in a bent shape when the clip is attached to both the first attachment point and the second attachment point. The support sleeve is configured to be straightened to a loading position in which the raceway is substantially linear when the clip is removed from at least one of the first or second attachment points.
