The excitation system includes a memory that may store an adaptive power system stabilizer (PSS) system that may dynamically stabilize an operation of a generator system.     Abstract: A system, including: a plurality of load commutated inverters (LCIs) connected in parallel, wherein each LCI includes: a source bridge for converting an alternating current (AC) voltage to a direct current (DC) voltage, wherein the source bridge includes at least one current switching device; a load bridge for converting the DC voltage from the source bridge to a variable frequency AC voltage; and a DC link coupling the source bridge to the load bridge; wherein each LCI includes a respective current regulator for controlling the at least one current switching device in the source bridge of the LCI to generate a current in the DC link.

    Abstract: A system, in one embodiment, may include a system includes a ground fault detection system. The ground fault detection system includes a linear filter configured to receive one or more signals from a static starter system during operations of the static starter system and to produce a linear filter output. The ground fault detection system further includes a rectifier configured to rectify the linear filter output and to produce a rectifier output, and a gain system configured to multiply the rectifier output by a factor to produce a gain output. The ground fault detection system additionally includes a fault indicator system configured to indicate a ground fault based on the gain output, wherein the ground fault detection system is configured to command an action based on the ground fault.

    Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure are directed at determining rotor deterioration in a dynamoelectric machine. Various current and voltage measurements are carried out upon an exciter assembly when the dynamoelectric machine is operated at various speeds and at various occasions over an extended period of time. More particularly, a set of current and voltage measurements that are carried out when the dynamoelectric machine is in a slow-roll mode of operation can be used for determining a resistance of a current path through which the exciter assembly provides electrical power to a rotor assembly. A time-domain-to-frequency-domain conversion can be carried out upon this set of resistance measurements in order to generate a spectral signature. The spectral signature can then be evaluated to detect an altered rotor resistance condition and/or a rotor resistance alteration trend.

    Abstract: Various embodiments include a system having: at least one computing device configured to monitor a dynamoelectric machine having a rotor including an exciter electrically coupled with a field winding, by performing actions including: obtaining measured data indicating a resistance of the field winding at a plurality of rotor angular positions while the rotor is rotating at a speed below one-hundred revolutions per minute; comparing the measured data indicating the resistance of the field winding at the plurality of rotor angular positions with a threshold resistance range; and indicating a potential fault in the field winding in response to determining the measured data indicating the resistance deviates from the threshold resistance range.

    Abstract: The disclosure relates to optimization of gas turbine power plant response during power system transients. In certain embodiments, systems, methods, and apparatus can control a power generating system by using the reactive components of the current and the reactive components of the voltage and the magnitude of the voltage at the generator terminals of a gas turbine generator system. In one embodiment, a system can identify a power system fault based on at least three conditions occurring for a specified duration and at substantially the same time: (1) an increase in the reactive current, (2) a decrease in the magnitude of the voltage, and (3) an increase in the reactive power. In one embodiment, a power system can further detect a remote breaker open (RBO) condition, and distinguish a RBO condition from a power system fault condition.
