摘要: A system for inductive heating of an aircraft surface includes a conductive outer layer configured to be located on an outer portion of the aircraft surface. The system further includes a carbon nanotube (CNT) yarn configured to receive and conduct electrical current. The system further includes an insulator located between the conductive outer layer and the CNT yarn such that the electrical current flowing through the CNT yarn generates induction heating on the conductive outer layer.

摘要: An electrothermal ice protection system (IPS) installed on an aircraft includes a sensor, a parting strip assembly, and a controller. The sensor monitors a direction of a local incident airflow that is imparted on the sensor. The parting strip assembly is coupled to the critical surface and includes a plurality of heating sections. The controller is in signal communication with the sensor and the parting strip assembly. The controller determines a direction of surface airflow incident on a critical surface of the aircraft based on the local incident airflow and selectively concentrates power to at least one targeted heating section among the plurality of heating sections with respect to non-targeted heating sections among the plurality of heating sections based on the direction of the surface airflow.

摘要: A heater panel includes a core. A heater/dielectric layer including a positive thermal coefficient (PTC) heater layer between a pair of dielectric layers is bonded to the core in a stack. An impact layer is bonded to the stack, wherein the impact layer includes a first sub-layer for impact absorption that is bonded to the stack and a second sub-layer for cut resistance bonded to the first sub-layer. The second sub-layer has a higher material hardness than that of the first-sub layer.

摘要: A method of making monolithic carbon nanotube heater elements with geometric shape with multiple, complex curvatures is disclosed. The method includes depositing carbon nanotubes on to a forming surface, draining the carbon nanotubes, and drying the carbon nanotubes. Alternatively, the method includes thermoforming carbon nanotube sheets containing thermoplastic binders. The resulting carbon nanotube heater element is a thin, monolithic carbon nanotube heater sheet having a geometric shape with complex curvatures.

The bonded region is disposed between the two or more stitchlines and seals a portion of the first layer of the carcass to a portion of the second layer of the carcass.

摘要: Disclosed is an attachment between a bus bar and a nano-carbon heater used for de-icing and/or anti-icing in an aircraft or other vehicle. The attachment between the bus bar and the heater is created through a coupling agent, a pre-preg glass fabric, and a conductive adhesive. This attachment allows for electrical connections to be made to the heater via the bus bar, and the attachment is strong enough to withstand stress from thermal cycles.

摘要: A method for reducing the resistivity of a thermoplastic film containing carbon nanotubes includes connecting an electric power supply to the thermoplastic film containing carbon nanotubes and passing electric current through the thermoplastic film containing carbon nanotubes to heat the thermoplastic film to an elevated temperature and align carbon nanotubes within the thermoplastic film. The thermoplastic film is solid at room temperature.

摘要: A method for creating a carbon nanotube heater assembly includes creating a carbon nanotube heater with varying resistances and attaching the carbon nanotube heater to both carrier and encapsulating materials. Creating the carbon nanotube heater with varying resistances is accomplished by applying a carbon nanotube mixture to a substrate, adjusting the thickness or width of the carbon nanotube mixture, and drying the nanotube mixture.
