    摘要: A laminated multilayer film substrate for use in the production of banknotes. The film substrate includes a first layer comprising at least about 50 weight percent of a high density polyethylene having a density of at least about 0.95, the first layer oriented in at least a first direction to a degree which is at least three times greater than the degree of orientation present in a direction substantially normal to the first direction, and a second layer comprising at least about 50 weight percent of a high density polyethylene having a density of at least about 0.95, the second layer oriented in at least a first direction to a degree which is at least three times greater than the degree of orientation present in a direction substantially normal to the first direction, wherein the second layer is laminated to the film substrate so that the first direction of orientation of the second layer is substantially normal to the first direction of orientation of the first layer. The resultant films having good dead-fold characteristics and other properties, making them highly suited for the production of bank notes and other security documents.

    摘要: A laminated multilayer film substrate for use in the production of banknotes includes a first layer comprises (a) a first layer having inner and outer sides, comprising at least about 50 weight percent of a high density polyethylene having a density of at least about 0.94, said first layer being oriented in the transverse direction (TD) to a degree which is at least three times greater than the degree of orientation present in the machine direction (MD); (b) a second layer having inner and outer sides, comprising at least about 50 weight percent of a high density polyethylene having a density of at least about 0.94, said second layer oriented in the transverse direction to a degree which is at least three times greater than the degree of orientation present in the machine direction; and (c) a laminating adhesive resin disposed between the inner sides of (a) and (b), which comprises a component selected from the group consisting of low density polyethylene (LDPE) and linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE); said second layer being laminated to said first layer so that the transverse direction of orientation of said second layer is substantially aligned with the transverse direction of orientation of said first layer. The resultant films exhibit good embossability, dead-fold characteristics and other properties, making them highly suited for the production of bank notes and other security documents.

This invention also provides a method and system for preparing flat bottom thermoplastic sacks comprising process steps and means for forming a tube of thermoplastic film, collapsing said tube while forming two oppositely disposed gussets therein, forming two pairs of diagonal sealed seams in the gussets, forming a transverse sealed seam across the tube along a line which includes the inboard ends of the diagonal seams and forming pre-weakened transverse lines closely adjacent to said transverse sealed seam or forming a severing line along this line, removing the four double triangular regions bounded by the diagonal seams, the transverse seams and the side edges of the tube and collecting the resulting structures either while still interconnected or by stacking the severed sacks. The final structure can have handles or it can be handleless.

    摘要: A dispensing system for a package of a continuous, severable sheet material comprising a number of individual severable members, such as plastic bags, separated by transverse pre-weakened regions, such as perforations, is composed of a storage container holding the package and a dispensing device. The dispensing device is separate from and is located at a location remote from the storage container. The continuous severable sheet material is conducted to the dispensing device and is threaded therethrough until the pre-weakened separating two consecutive members emerges through the exit of the device. A sufficient force is then applied to the continuous, severable sheet material to separate the two consecutive members from each other at the pre-weakened region.

    摘要: A method for forming a one-sided cling stretch wrap film by adhering a particulate antiblock to one surface of the film while the surface is in a semiplastic state, applying a particle-embedding force to the surface and removing excess particulate matter. The thermoplastic stretch wrap film exhibits a significant level of cling on one surface but no appreciable cling force on the other, the latter surface exhibiting a slide property when in contact with a film or like surface due to the presence of particulate antiblock agent mechanically bonded thereto. The film can be used to overwrap one or a group of articles to form a unitized packaged unit employing any of the known and conventional tension-wrapping techniques. Because of its one-sided cling and slide capabilities, pallet loads overwrapped with the film and in mutual contact avoid film tearing or destruction when the pallet loads are separated from each other.
