An apparatus providing an update for a vehicle includes a plurality of controllers, a communication circuit communicating with a server, a memory configured to store data received from the server, and a control circuit electrically connected to the plurality of controllers, the communication circuit, and the memory. The control circuit is configured to set an order of the update, based on a preset priority and a size of update data, which correspond to each of the plurality of target controllers, when an update for a plurality of target controllers among the plurality of controllers is required, to receive the update data corresponding to each of the plurality of target controllers, from the server using the communication circuit in the set order, and to update the plurality of target controllers in the set order using the received update data.

An apparatus for over the air update (OTA) for a vehicle and a method therefor are provided. The apparatus includes a communication device to receive data for the OTA update of vehicle software from a sever, and a processor to control background transfer for the OTA update based on at least one of a network load update, a vehicle power state, a battery state, or an expected time for residual read-only memory (ROM) data transfer.

The present disclosure provides an apparatus and a method for converting a protocol by a type of data, and a vehicle system. The apparatus includes a storage configured to store a conversion table that defines a protocol conversion method depending on the type of data, a protocol conversion device configured to receive Controller Area Network (CAN) data from a CAN node in a vehicle, to call the conversion table, to determine the protocol conversion method corresponding to a type of the CAN data, and to convert a communication protocol of the CAN data to an Ethernet-based communication protocol based on the protocol conversion method, and a transmission processing device configured to convert a message format of the CAN data to an Ethernet message format and to transmit the CAN data to an external server.

The present disclosure relates to a vehicle data collection device and a method thereof. The vehicle data collection device includes: a data receiver configured to receive vehicle data through a vehicle network; a data collector configured to collect the vehicle data based on a collection information table and a collection status table; a storage configured to store the vehicle data; a controller configured to set a field value in the collection information table, and update the collection status table when the data collector collects the vehicle data and when the vehicle table is transmitted; and a transmitter configured to transmit the vehicle data to a head unit.

A method and apparatus for collecting vehicle data is provided. The method for collecting vehicle data in a vehicle data collection server communicating with a vehicle through a wireless network includes receiving vehicle data corresponding to first to Nth data items from a first vehicle. When alternative data collection vehicles are needed, the method searches for the alternative data collection vehicles in a group of vehicles, for each of the first to Nth data items, receives vehicle data corresponding to at least one of the first to Nth data items through the searched alternative data collection vehicles, and stores the vehicle data received from the first vehicle and the vehicle data received from the alternative data collection vehicles.
