    Abstract: An appliance includes an appliance wall, a water filtration assembly having a filtration housing mounted to the appliance wall via a manifold, and an electrical connection electrically coupling the water filtration assembly to a power source. The water filtration assembly includes at least one fluid inlet port and at least one fluid outlet port secured to the manifold for receiving fluid from a fluid source. The electrical connection is separate and spaced apart from the manifold. The electrical connection includes at least one first and second electrical contacts. When the first electrical contact(s) contacts the second electrical contact(s), power and/or one or more signals for communication/sensing is provided to the water filtration assembly. Further, the first electrical contact(s) is arranged on the filtration housing to align with the second electrical contact when the filtration housing is mounted to the appliance wall regardless of an orientation of the filtration housing.

    Abstract: A hydration system for an indoor gardening appliance includes a water supply that provides untreated water into a reverse osmosis filter that filters the water into treated water and wastewater. A wastewater conduit provides fluid communication between a wastewater outlet and a wastewater storage reservoir, and a wastewater valve selectively discharges the wastewater through the wastewater storage reservoir, e.g., when a water quality sensor determines that the total dissolved solids in the treated water exceeds a predetermined threshold.

    Abstract: A passive fluid treatment assembly is provided including a passive treatment body defining a primary flow path and a liquid treatment path. The liquid treatment path bypasses a portion of the primary flow path and enters a treatment enclosure through a high pressure port. The fluid entering the high pressure port is treated by a treatment media in the treatment enclosure and exits through a low pressure port into a mixing chamber where it is remixed with the fluid in the primary flow path. A one-way valve is operably coupled to an outlet of the high pressure port for preventing the flow of treated fluid from exiting the treatment enclosure through the high pressure port.

    Abstract: A filter for a non-plumbed appliance is provided. The filter includes a filter housing defining a filter chamber. A filter medium is positioned within the filter chamber, each end of the filter medium being enclosed by an endcap formed from a resilient material, such as molded silicone or a thermoplastic elastomer. The endcaps slide on the ends of the filter media with no need for adhesive and form a fluid seal with both the filter media and the filter housing once installed. One or more fluid bypass channels may be defined by the filter housing or in the endcaps to allow water to flow as desired within the filter chamber. The resulting filter requires fewer components and less assembly time while improving filtration performance and reliability.
