摘要： A multimedia communication system which allows a user at a terminal to efficiently place an order for merchandise with a merchandise provider includes terminals and a multimedia server connected thereto via a public network. The multimedia server includes an information storage unit for storing multimedia information on each merchandise item, a communication control unit for controlling information transmission between terminals and the server via the public network, and a bulletin board service unit for transmitting merchandise items from the information storage unit to the communication control unit in response to a merchandise information look-up request from any of terminals. The multimedia server further has an ordering service unit and a main service unit. The ordering service unit enters the quantities and delivery times of merchandise ordered from a terminal into a received order master file, transcribes what is input in the master file onto a slip, and enters the slip into a received order file after adding to the slip the address, name and user code number of the user who placed the order. The mail service unit transmits slips held in the ordering service unit to the terminal of a merchandise delivery center via the communication control unit.

摘要： An ignition timing control device for an internal combustion engine is provided with a microcomputer which determines the ignition timing (i.e., the angles BTDC) on the basis of a measurement of the period between successive pulses of a crankshaft angle signal in each ignition cycle. The device comprises, in addition to other conventional components, an rpm level judgement device, for determining whether the rpm of the engine is above a predetermined level or not. At the start of each ignition control cycle, this determination of the rpm level is effected on the basis of the measurement of the period of the crankshaft angle signal performed in the immediately preceding ignition cycle. When the rpm is judged to be above the predetermined level, the ignition timing signal is generated in accordance with the value of the ignition timing which has been determined in the preceding ignition cycle; when, on the other hand, the rpm is judged to be not above the predetermined level, the ignition timing signal is generated in accordance with the value of the ignition timing which is determined in the current ignition cycle.

摘要： A device for adjusting the height an armrest of a chair including a support disposed on a chair and a receiving/supporting cylinder movably engaged with a support. Extending longitudinally in a slit in the receiving/supporting cylinder is a stepped member. An engaging piece within the cylinder is adapted to be moved into and out of engagement with the stepped member. The engaging piece extends through a slit in the cylinder. Surrounding the receiving/supporting cylinder is an operating cylinder which has circumferentially spaced internal ridges. As the operating cylinder is rotated. the ridges engage the engaging piece and move it into and out of contact with the stepped member.A spiral circumferential groove is also provided in the receiving/supporting cylinder and a pin on the operating cylinder is engaged in the spiral groove whereby rotatable movement of the operating cylinder causes axial movement of the same. Tapered edges are provided on the operating cylinder and a member connected to the receiving/supporting cylinder so that as the operating cylinder is raised and lowered, the member is clamped and unclamped to the support.
