The disk brake with a caliper (2) reaching over a brake disk (1) exhibits on one side a clamping mechanism. The clamping mechanism includes a cam lever (4), which can be rotated around an axis parallel to the plane of the brake disk and interacts preferably by way of a traverse (6) with one or two adjusting spindles (7, 8), against which a brake lining (10) is braced. The two adjusting spindles (7 and 8) are coupled by means of a toothed belt (12). Into a recess of the one adjusting spindle (7) projects a rotating drive (14), which can be driven by the cam lever (4) and during the application stroke causes the adjusting spindle (7) and thus by way of the toothed belt (12) also the adjusting spindle (8) to be screwed in the direction of approach to the brake disk (1). The rotating drive (14) includes a one-way revolving coupling and a torque limiting coupling, thus preventing a screw connection of the adjusting spindles (7 and 8) during the fixed brake stroke and the release stroke.

The invention relates to a wear adjustment device for a brake, especially a motor vehicle brake. The device comprises an adjusting shaft, which is mounted in a housing and is accessible from the outside at a front end. Said adjusting shaft is equipped with a head part in the accessible area, this head part enabling the transmission of a torque. The head part is configured as a separate structural part and can be coupled to the adjusting shaft in such a way that it is resistant to torsion in the axial direction of the adjusting shaft and in relation to said adjusting shaft. The head part is also provided with a predetermined breaking point which enables separation to take place when a maximum permissible torque is exceeded. This constructionally simple configuration reliably prevents the adjusting shaft from being overburdened and therefore prevents any damage to the wear adjustment device or essential parts of the break that this could otherwise cause. In the event that the head part is destroyed, the destroyed head part can be replaced by a new head part without impairing the brake as a whole.

The housing is subdivided by a piston into two compartments, one compartment being used as the pressure compartment for the service brake, and the brake spring of the spring section being arranged in the other compartment on the opposite end of the piston. The brake spring acts upon an additional spring piston, which can be locked and released relative to the piston by a pneumatic locking mechanism. The spring piston is connected to a piston rod directly or via additional elements to actuate the brake. Once the locking mechanism is released, the brake spring displaces the pistons relative each other during a parking brake action. At least one pneumatic valve for controlling the brake cylinder are integrated into the brake cylinder.

A wear adjustor is provided for adjusting the wear of brake pads and a brake disc of a pneumatic disc brake having a brake application device actuated by a rotary lever. The wear adjustor is preferably inserted into an adjusting spindle of the brake application device. An axial bearing is formed axially on a side of a drive ring, and a ball ramp coupling with a freewheel function is formed axially on the opposite side of the drive ring. The ball ramp coupling has balls and a drive socket which is arranged axially, on the drive side, between the axial bearing and the balls thereof, a cone clutch being arranged between the clutch ring on the output side and an elastic sleeve for a cylinder spring. The cone clutch has the output-side clutch ring and a cone socket connected to the elastic sleeve, and clamping balls are arranged between the output-side clutch ring and the cone socket.
