    摘要: A liquid bait for target insects and methods of attracting or controlling insects by means of its use. Sorbitol is dissolved in an amount of water sufficient to form an aqueous carrier. The dissolved sorbitol is in a concentration great enough to be effective as a humectant to retard drying of the liquid carrier. The liquid bait further includes at least one insect attractant that is dissolved, dispersed, suspended, or emulsified in the liquid carrier in an amount effective to attract the target insects. The insect attractant may include, in combination, sucrose, fructose, d-maltose, the lithium salt of saccharin, lithium chloride, and vitamins. The liquid bait also may include an effective amount of an insect control active ingredient selected from the group consisting of insecticides, insect growth regulators, chitin inhibitors, insect pathogens, insect-controlling materials derived from insect pathogens, and combinations thereof.

    摘要: Disclosed herein are dispensers for dual functional use, wherein the dispensers are independently capable of dispensing a spray or an evaporative long term dispersible material. Also disclosed are refill units for such dispensers, which refill units comprise a spray can and associated control means, and an evaporative dispenser which may be activated by removal of a covering membrane which is impermeable to a volatile dispersible material. The spray and the evaporative volatile dispersible may or may not be the same material, permitting the consumer greater flexibility and choice.

    摘要: This invention relates to cationic oil-in water emulsion compositions which are especially useful as hair conditioning compositions which have a sparkling pearlescent appearance due to the presence of irregular platelet-like crystals suspended in the composition. The compositions comprise a cationic water-in-oil emulsion of from (a) about 0.1% to 5%, preferably from 0.1 to 0.8%, of a quaternary ammonium compound such as stearyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride; (b) about 1-10%, preferably 1-2%, of a fatty acid having 12-16 carbon atoms such as myristic acid and a fatty monoalcohol having from 12 to 18 carbon atoms such as cetyl alcohol in a 70:30 to 95:5, preferably 75;25 to 85:15, weight ratio of acid to alcohol; (c) about 0.5-2% of a compatible thickening agent such as hydroxyethyl cellulose; optionally, up to bout 5% of additional cationic, nonionic and amphoteric surfactants; and the balance comprises water wherein the pH of the emulsion is from about 2-5, preferably from 2-4, and the viscosity is preferably from about 1,000 to 5,000 centipoise at 25.degree. C.

The passive dispenser may comprise the external shell of said dual function dispenser, and may be fashioned of a porous ceramic, plastic, or paper material impregnated with an evaporative passively dispersible material selected from the group consisting of fragrances, air fresheners, deodorizers, odor eliminators, malodor counteractants, insecticides, insect repellants, medicinal substances, disinfectants, sanitizers, mood enhancers, and aroma therapy compositions. The actively dispersed material may be the same or different. Refill units for such dispensers may comprise a spray can and associated control means, and an evaporative dispenser of dispersible material, provided either separately or as an integral unit.

    摘要: The subject invention concerns novel microbes and genes encoding novel toxin proteins with activity against insect pests of the order Hymenoptera. Pests in the order Hymenoptera are common house pests, and they create problems in hospitals, the food industry and in agriculture. The novel Bacillus thuringiensis microbe of the invention is referred to as B.t. PS211B2. The spores or crystals of these microbes, or mutants thereof, are useful to control hymenopteran pests in various environments. The genes of the invention can be used to transform various hosts wherein the novel toxic proteins can be expressed.
