    摘要: β-Sialon comprising Eu2+ that is present in a solid solution form in β-sialon represented by Si6-zAlzOzN μm [wherein z is 0.3-1.5], which shows, when excited with light of 450 nm in wavelength, a peak wavelength of fluorescent spectrum of 545-560 nm, a half-value breadth of 55 nm or greater, and an external quantum efficiency of 45% or greater. The β-sialon can be produced by blending at least one kind of oxide selected from aluminum oxide and silicon oxide with silicon nitride and aluminum nitride in such a manner as to give z of 0.3-1.5, further adding thereto a europium compound and a β-sialon powder having an average particle diameter of 5 μm or greater and an average degree of circularity of 0.7 or greater, each in a definite amount, and baking the mixture.

    摘要: The present invention provides: a phosphor which can be combined with a blue LED to emit white light having a low color temperature as in the case where the phosphor is used singly, has a broad fluorescence spectrum, high light emission efficiency, and thermal/chemical stability, and rarely undergoes the deterioration in brightness at higher temperatures. This phosphor is represented by the general formula: Mx(Si,Al)2(N,O)3±y (wherein M independently represent Li or at least one alkali earth metal element; and x and y fulfill the requirement represented by the formulae: 0.52≦x≦0.9 and 0≦y≦0.3) wherein some of M are substituted by element Ce, and wherein the Si/Al atomic ratio is 1.5 to 6 inclusive, the O/N atomic ratio is 0 to 0.1 inclusive, 5-50 mol % of M's is Li, and 0.5-10 mol % of M is Ce.

    摘要: A β type Sialon fluorescent substance is disclosed that is capable of achieving enhanced brightness of a white light emitting diode using blue to ultraviolet light as a light source. In the fluorescent substance which contains not less than 90% by mass of a β type Sialon composition represented by general formula: Si6-zAlzOzN8-z as a host material wherein z is not less than 0.24 and not more than 0.42, Eu is present dissolved in solid solution as a luminescent center at a content of 0.05 to 0.2% by atom. The β type Sialon fluorescent substance is preferably in the form of a powder having an average particle size of not less than 1 μm and not more than 20 μm. A white LED of good luminescent characteristics can be obtained by using a blue or ultraviolet light emitting diode as a excitation light source in combination with a fluorescent substance that emits yellow or red light.
