    摘要: There are provided a cemented carbide high in thermal diffusivity and excellent in wear resistance, and a cutting tool including a base material formed of this cemented carbide. The cemented carbide is a WC based cemented carbide in which a hard phase mainly constituted of WC grains is bound by a binder phase mainly constituted of Co, and is used for a cutting tool. The binder phase is substantially constituted of Co, or Co and Ni. A total content of Co and Ni is not less than 4.5 mass % and not more than 15 mass %. In this cemented carbide, the WC grains have an average diameter of not less than 0.4 μm and not more than 4 μm.

    摘要: The invention is to prolong the life time of tools dramatically by (1) considerably improving the flaking resistance of the coating layer at the time of cutting, (2) increasing the wear resistance and crater resistance of the coating layer itself, and (3) enhancing the breakage strength of the coating layer in comparison with the conventional coating cutting tools. In order to achieve the object, the coated cemented carbide of the invention has the following structure in the coating layer on the surface of the cemented carbides: The outer layer has an Al2O3 layer practically having an &agr;-type crystal structure. The Al2O3 layer has a region where &agr;-type and &kgr;-type crystal grains coexist in the first row of the crystal grains that grow on the inner layer. In addition to that, the crystal grains of &agr;-Al2O3 in the region include no pores.

    摘要: The present invention relates to gaseous phase synthesized diamond and a method of synthesizing the same. In order to obtain crystalline diamond having remarkably high completeness and hardly containing carbon having a construction other than that of diamond, raw material gases are thermally activated by a thermoelectron-radiating material heated at an extremely high temperature, the thermoelectron-radiating material being connected to a negative pole while a substrate to be coated is connected to a positive pole, by the use of a direct current power source, a plasma being formed between the thermoelectron-radiating material and the substrate by applying a direct current voltage, and a diamond film having an average particle size of 2 microns or less, compression residual stress and electric resistance of 10.sup.8 ohm.cm or more being formed on the substrate by using the activation by the thermoelectron-radiating material together with the activation by the formation of DC plasma.In addition, homogeneous diamond particles uniform in shape can be obtained by using this method.
