    摘要: The purpose of the present invention is to provide a spacer having a small absolute value of the temperature coefficient of resistance, the spacer being excellent in suppressing a thermal runaway, the spacer being excellent in voltage endurance so as not to cause an abnormal discharge even if a high voltage of over 10 kV is applied, the spacer being unlikely to cause deflection of an electron beam, and a flat panel display device provided with this spacer. The spacer of the flat panel display device includes, on the surface of a glass substrate, a thin film that comprises substances exhibiting metal-like electrical conductivity dispersed in an oxide matrix exhibiting semiconductor-like electrical conductivity. Alternatively, the spacer includes, on the surface of a glass substrate, a particle-dispersed oxide thin film that comprises substances exhibiting metal-like electrical conductivity dispersed in an oxide matrix, and the spacer further includes, on top of this film, an oxide thin film composed of an oxide exhibiting semiconductor-like electrical conductivity.

    摘要: The purpose of the invention is to improve the mass productivity of display devices by using a glass substrate that prevents the degradation of an electrode caused by glass of the display device. The present invention provides a flat panel display device containing at least two substrates and a light emitting part provided between the two substrates, wherein at least one substrate of the two substrates contains SiO2 as a main component and contains 1% to 10% by weight of at least one type selected from the group consisting of La, Y, Gd, Yb, and Lu in terms of oxides, 5% to 25% by weight of R2O (R denotes one or more types selected from a group consisting of Li, K, Cs, and Rb), and 8% to 20% by weight of Al2O3, and wherein the surface electric resistance at 350° C. of the glass material is higher than 1×108 (Ω/square).

    摘要: To provide a spacer, which is unlikely to degrade due to heating received during manufacture process of an image display device, and an image display device equipped with the spacer. An image display device includes: a cathode substrate including an electron source; an anode substrate including a fluorescent substance that emits light upon receiving electrons emitted from the electron source; and a spacer that is disposed between the cathode substrate and the anode substrate and supports the both substrates, wherein the spacer comprises the one having a film composed of a composite metal oxide on a side surface of a glass base material, the composite metal oxide being composed of a solid solution of a metal oxide having a semiconductor-like electrical conductivity and a metal oxide having an insulator-like electrical conductivity. The spacer equipped with this composite metal oxide film has less degradation, such as that a glass composition volatilizes, even if heated during the manufacture process of an image display device, and provides an excellent image.

At least one of an address electrode, a bus electrode, a bus main electrode, and a black electrode of a display electrode formed on a substrate is formed of metal particles and high-resistance glass to dissipate charge accumulated on a dielectric through the high-resistance glass and to prevent charging in a glass component itself, thereby reducing abnormal discharge. The high-resistance glass is preferably realized by vanadium phosphate glass containing vanadium, phosphorus, antimony, and barium. The metal particles desirably contain flaky particles.

In an image display which is equipped with a rear substrate provided on its inner surface with electron emitters, a front substrate facing the rear substrate, provided on its inner surface with a phosphor pattern having an array corresponding to the electron emitters, and having an outer surface serving as a display surface, and in which a gap between the substrates is held by glass-made spacers, propagation along the spacers and migration to the side of the electron emitters of the constituent elements of the glass frit for fixing spacers is prevented by fixing oxide crystal particles on the spacer surface, or by fixing at least a part of the spacer to the front panel by an adhesive layer comprising a conductive glass a part of which is crystallized.
