Abstract: An electrical current transmission system for transmitting an electrical current to an object via a substantially transparent structure, wherein the substantially transparent structure includes at least one transparent layer and at least two transparent electrically conductive elements. The substantially transparent structure further comprises means for connecting the at least two electrically conductive elements to an external power supply, and means for transfer of electrical current from the transparent structure to the object. The at least two electrically conductive elements are separated by a part of the structure which is electrically insulating.

Abstract: A laminated glass comprises first and second glass sheets and a ply of interlayer material disposed therebetween, a conductive strip disposed on the ply of interlayer material, a connector arranged at an edge of the second glass sheet, a ceramic ink layer on a surface of the second glass sheet not facing the ply of interlayer material and partly obscuring the conductive strip, a gap in the ceramic ink layer configured so that the conductive strip is in contact with the connector in the gap. Also, there is a method for manufacturing the laminated glass and use of the laminated glazing.

Abstract: A glass article including an ultra-thin glass layer and an optically transparent polymeric hard-coat layer having a pencil hardness of 8H or more bonded to the ultra-thin glass layer. The optically transparent polymer hard-coat layer may include an organic polymer material or an aliphatic or aromatic hexafunctional urethane acrylate. In some embodiments, the glass article may have an impact resistance defined by the capability of the glass article to avoid failure at a pen drop height that is 2 times or more than that of a control pen drop height of the ultra-thin glass layer without the optically transparent polymeric hard-coat layer, where the pen drop height and the control pen drop height are measured according to the Pen Drop Test. In some embodiments, the glass article may survive a bend radius of 5 mm or less.

Abstract: This disclosure describes insulated glass units (IGUs) that incorporate electrochromic devices. More specifically, this disclosure focuses on different configurations available for providing an electrical connection to the interior region of an IGU. In many cases, an IGU includes two panes separated by a spacer. The spacer defines an interior region of the IGU and an exterior region of the IGU. Often, the electrochromic device positioned on the pane does not extend past the spacer, and some electrical connection must be provided to supply power from the exterior of the IGU to the electrochromic device on the interior of the IGU. In some embodiments, the spacer includes one or more holes (e.g, channels, mouse holes, other holes, etc.) through which an electrical connection (e.g., wires, busbar leads, etc.) may pass to provide power to the electrochromic device.

Abstract: An electrical characteristic of a privacy glazing structure and indicative of a health of the privacy glazing structure can be measured at a first time and at a second time later than the first time. In response to detecting a change in the electrical characteristic indicating a change in the health of the privacy glazing structure, one or more parameters of an electrical drive signal can be adjusted to compensate for the change in the health of the privacy glazing structure. The electrical characteristic can be measured at a plurality of times after the second time and compared to the electrical characteristic measured at the first time. If, at any of the plurality of times, the measured electrical characteristic differs from the electrical characteristic measured at the first time by more than a threshold amount, one or more parameters of the electrical drive signal can be adjusted.

Abstract: A processing system for forming an optical coating on a substrate is provided, wherein the optical coating including an anti-reflective coating and an oleophobic coating, the system comprising: a linear transport processing section configured for processing and transporting substrate carriers individually and one at a time in a linear direction; at least one evaporation processing system positioned in the linear transport processing system, the evaporation processing system configured to form the oleophobic coating; a batch processing section configured to transport substrate carriers in unison about an axis; at least one ion beam assisted deposition processing chamber positioned in the batch processing section, the ion beam assisted deposition processing chamber configured to deposit layer of the anti-reflective coating; a plurality of substrate carriers for mounting substrates; and, means for transferring the substrate carriers between the linear transport processing section and the batch processing section without exposing the substrate carrier to atmosphere.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method of providing a laminated vacuum insulated glass (VIG) unit, wherein the method comprises: —providing a lamination assembly (10) comprising a vacuum insulated glass (VIG) unit (11) comprising at least two glass sheets (11a, 11b) separated by a plurality of support structures (12) distributed in a gap (13) between the glass sheets (11a, 11b), and a lamination layer (2) arranged between one of the glass sheets (11a, 11b) of the vacuum insulated glass (VIG) unit (11) and a further sheet (3). The lamination assembly (10) is subjected to a heating step at a heating location so as to soften the lamination layer to provide a bonding between the vacuum insulated glass unit and the lamination layer (3), and a bonding between the further sheet (3) and the lamination layer (2). The heated lamination assembly (10) is then subjected to a cooling step provided by a cooling system (350), wherein said cooling step comprises providing a controlled cooling of one or both major outer surfaces (10a, 10b) of the heated lamination assembly (10) so as to cool said heated lamination assembly (10) to harden said lamination layer (2). The present disclosure additionally relates to use of a cooling system.

Abstract: An integrated glazing unit (IGU) includes a first pane, an electronic laminate that includes an electronic device provided between first and second substrates, a plurality of terminals coupled to the electronic device, and the first substrate being attached to the first pane. The IGU also includes a second pane coupled to the electronic laminated assembly by a spacer, the spacer being recessed with respect to the laminate edge and the second pane edge, forming an interpane volume, R, between the first and second panes. The IGU further includes a gutter having an open face and giving access to an inner volume, Vi. The gutter is positioned within the interpane volume, R, with the open face being recessed from, flush with or extending by less than 10 mm from the second pane edge. The gutter is suitable for receiving the male and/or female electric connector of a cable harness in the inner volume, Vi.
