摘要： An image recording apparatus which performs time division and driving of 128 recording devices arrayed within an LED chip includes shift registers for sequentially serially outputting 128 bits of continuous pixel data to 56 signal lines, corresponding to each LED, from one line of serially input pixel data row, selectors which perform time division of the 56 pieces of pixel data into 8 times of 7 pieces apiece and then outputs the data, and registers which hold the pixel data output from the selectors for each corresponding LED chip. The image recording apparatus may be used as a recording head for a printer using solid recording devices is simplified, and costs are reduced.

摘要： An original illuminating apparatus for use in a copying apparatus, an image reader, or a facsimile is provided with a fluorescent lamp having a long tube wall to illuminate an original; a heat radiating member provided at a position opposite to the original illuminating side of the fluorescent lamp; and a thermal coupling member which is close to the tube wall of the fluorescent lamp and the heat radiating member and is thermally coupled thereto. The thermal coupling member is provided within an effective light emission length in the longitudinal direction of the fluorescent lamp at a position different from the original illuminating side of the fluorescent lamp or on the side that is almost opposite to the original illuminating side of the fluorescent lamp.

A light source unit is settable at plural positions in contact with the guide unit for illuminating the transparent original which is urged against the original plate by the light source unit. A portion of the light source unit which is contacted with the transparent original is chamfered (R-worked) not to damage the transparent original. Further, a portion of the light source unit which is contacted with the transparent original is designed to urge the transparent original at an out of an image area of the original.

摘要： An image reader includes two rows of image reading element arrays, that is, a first image reading element array and a second image reading element array, and a first rod lens array and a second rod lens array, disposed in correspondence with the first and second image reading element arrays and having different focal positions, in order to read an image on a transmission original in optimal focus with a CIS scanner using the rod lens arrays as when an image on a reflection original is read. The second image reading element array provides higher resolution, and has a shorter reading length. The focal length of the second rod lens array is greater than that of the first rod lens array.
