摘要: Data difficult to be written to a target sector (write) of a hard disk is recorded to a MRAM. The target sector (write) to which the write has been difficult is checked in a background of performing data write to the next target sector (write). When there is no error, the data stored in the MRAM is written to the target sector (write) of the hard disk. When there is any error, the data stored in the MRAM is written to an alternative sector of the hard disk. Data difficult to be read from a target sector (read) of the hard disk is recorded to the MRAM. The target sector (read) from which the read has been difficult is checked in a background of performing data read from the next target sector (read). When there is any error, the data stored in the MRAM is written to an alternative sector of the hard disk.

The memory MC includes sub-cells SC1 and SC2. The sub-cell SC1 includes magneto resistive elements MTJ1 and MTJ2 and a selection transistor Tr1, and the sub-cell SC2 includes magneto resistive elements MTJ3 and MTJ4 and a selection transistor Tr2. The magneto resistive elements MTJ1 and MTJ2 are connected in parallel, and the magneto resistive elements MTJ3 and MTJ4 are also connected in parallel. Further, the sub-cells SC1 and SC2 are connected in series between the write/read bit line BLW/R and the ground.

摘要: A method and an apparatus for predicting the recovery time required until the hard disk drive is restored to a usable state from a stand-by state. The recovery time is a time required until the hard disk drive is restored to a usable state from the stand-by state. Then, the predicted recovery time is reported to the host system. When the host system knows how much time is needed until the disk drive is recovered, it can schedule a task to be completed before the hard disk drive is restarted, thereby scheduling of all the tasks in the host system can be optimized.

摘要: The signal output device of the present invention comprises of a driver circuit and a controller. The signal sending method of the present invention sets any one of a plurality of the different sending rates. The method also includes setting a slew rate of the driver circuit to a standard value that is in accordance with the predetermined data transfer rate, thereby starting signal transmission. The next step involves determining whether or not a data transfer error occurrence rate is below a predetermined allowable threshold. Then, changes in the slew rate of the driver circuit are made if the data transfer error occurrence rate is determined to be over the allowable threshold. Next, a search for a slew rate value that can decrease the data transfer error occurrence rate below the allowable threshold or decrease the data transfer error occurrence rate is performed. The new slew rate value is set as a new standard value. Finally, the process ends by setting the new standard slew rate for the driver circuit if the slew rate value can decrease the data transfer error occurrence rate below the allowable threshold or decrease the data transfer error occurrence rate.

摘要: An adapter connected between a host computer and disk storage devices provides interfaces for connecting to the host computer and the disk storage devices having the same interface design. The adapter itself includes control means for building a redundant disk storage system. Moreover, the adapter itself includes means for detecting and indicating a failed disk storage device, means for replacing the failed disk storage device, and means for rebuilding a redundant disk storage system after the replacement of disk storage devices. A command is configured so that the host computer can have access to each of disk storage devices for maintenance purposes. The adapter makes it easy to configure a highly reliable redundant disk storage system for a small computer system without any change to existing hardware or software.

摘要: An automotive air-conditioner has a casing forming an air passage through which an air passes and a film damper slidably disposed in the casing in such a manner to face to the air passage. The film damper having openings opens and closes the air passage. Holes are disposed on the film damper for indicating a position of the opening: Photointerrupters are disposed on the casing to detect the holes and output a present position signal that shows a present position of the film damper. A mode setting portion outputs a target position signal that shows a target position of the film damper. A microcomputer compares the present position signal with the target position signal, so that the microcomputer controls the film damper to stop at the target position.
