    摘要: A method and system for device discovery in a wireless network is provided. The device discovery involves directionally transmitting a data unit from a transmitting station over a channel in different directions to emulate omni-directional transmission, receiving the data unit transmissions from different directions at a receiving station, determining the quality of the transmissions received from the different directions, and detecting location information for the transmitting station relative to the receiving station based on the highest quality transmission among the transmissions received from the different directions. Further, if a channel has sufficient bandwidth to satisfy direct link communication between two stations, then during a direct link set-up stage, the two stations conduct a probing message exchange using omni-direction transmission, and upon successful probing, obtain communication link status information and set proper communication configurations for the two stations based on the communication link status information.

    摘要: A method and system for transmission of video information is provided. A transmitting wireless station performs chroma partitioning of pixels in a video frame into different partitions. The chroma partitioning includes separating luminance (Y) information from chrominance information (CB and CR) of each pixel in a set of spatially correlated pixels. The luminance (Y) information are placed into different partitions. The different partitions into different packets and transmitted over a wireless communication medium to a receiving wireless station. The video information is selectively adapted to a lower data transmission rate with reduced quality degradation by dropping less important partitions.

    摘要: A method and system for transmitting uncompressed video over a wireless channel by inputting a frame of pixel information, partitioning spatially correlated pixels into different packets, and transmitting the packets separately over a wireless channel. For robust transmission, error detection data can be generated for each packet and appended to each packet before transmission. A receiver receives the transmitted packets and checks if a received packet is corrupt based on the appended error detection data. For a corrupt packet, the receiver corrects the corrupt pixels using pixel information in other received packets containing neighboring pixels to recover each corrupt pixel in the corrupt packet.

Information in a packet can be organized/coded in a two-dimensional pyramid format for forwarding information from one or more communication devices. A first dimension includes information importance level and a second dimension includes device priorities based on a distance calculation.

Sector training sequences to a plurality of other devices are transmitted via a transmit directional antenna having a set of transmit sectors.
