    Abstract: Embodiments of a folded meta-inspired antenna for dual-band operation and user equipment for dual-band operation in a wireless network are generally described herein. In some embodiments, the folded meta-inspired antenna may include first and second conductive layers disposed on opposite sides of a substrate to provide a wideband distributed structure comprising a plurality of high-Q resonances resulting from, at least in part, metamaterial-based loading. Conductive material on the first side of the substrate is arranged around a central longitudinal slot coupled with a plurality of perpendicular slots. For dual-band operation, the folded meta-inspired antenna may operate as a folded monopole at a higher frequency band and operate as a slot-type radiator at a lower frequency band. The plurality of resonances may cause the folded meta-inspired antenna to achieve broader bandwidth at both lower and higher frequency bands.

    Abstract: A rotatable circular waveguide structure is described that may comprise circular waveguide sections configured to propagate electromagnetic radiation. The circular waveguide sections may enable data signals to be transmitted between portions of an electronic device, such as a chassis and display portion, which may be rotatable with respect to one another. The rotatable circular waveguide structure may comprise one or more circular waveguide sections that are routed through a hinge of the electronic device, as well as one or more rotatable junctions. The rotatable junctions enable a rotation of circular waveguide sections with respect to one another as the coupled portions of the electronic device are also rotated. The rotatable circular waveguide structure may replace the use of data cables that are conventionally used to carry data signals between portions of an electronic device.

    Abstract: Embodiments of millimeter-wave antenna structures are generally described herein. The antenna structure may include an a radiating-element layer comprising a patterned conductive material, a ground layer comprising conductive material disposed on a dielectric substrate, and a feed-line layer comprising conductive material disposed on a dielectric substrate. In some embodiments, the antenna structure may include an air-gap layer disposed between the radiating-element layer and the ground layer. The air-gap layer may include spacing elements to separate the radiating-element layer and the ground layer by a predetermined distance. In some other embodiments, the radiating-element layer may be disposed on a radiating-element dielectric substrate which may include one or more cavities between the radiating-element layer and the ground layer.
