Binding proteins, such as fully human monoclonal antibodies and fragments thereof, directed to the antigen Matriptase and uses of such binding proteins are disclosed. Nucleotide sequences encoding, and amino acid sequences comprising heavy and light chain immunoglobulin molecules capable of binding to Matriptase are also disclosed. The invention also discloses cell lines expressing such immunoglobulin molecules and monoclonal antibodies to Matriptase. The antibodies can be used to detect, prevent, and treat diseases such as cancer.

The present invention relates to a method by which one can target an undesired target molecule or target antigen, preferably an endogenous protein. The method comprises the intracellular expression of an antibody capable of binding to the target. A DNA sequence is delivered to a cell, the DNA sequence contains a sufficient number of nucleotides coding for the portion of an antibody capable of binding to the target operably linked to a promoter that will permit expression of the antibody in the cell(s) of interest. The antibody is then expressed intracellularly and binds to the target, thereby disrupting the target from its normal actions.

The program is primarily intended for individuals with a poor or sub prime credit rating that precludes them from qualifying for conventional home loan financing. The individuals improve their credit rating as part of the program. The program is preferably operated as a franchise in which franchisees initially purchase homes on behalf of the individuals, lease the homes to the individuals according to a contract entered prior to purchasing the home and, upon successful fulfillment of the lease, the home is sold to the individual using conventional financing. The fulfillment of the lease-to-own contract assists in improving the individual's credit rating and assists in positioning the individual to qualify for conventional home loan financing.

Methods for identifying patients having or at risk of developing prostate cancer (including hormone refractory or androgen independent prostate cancer) and patients having or at risk of developing a cancer arising from metastasis if a prostate cancer to another tissue, e.g., liver and lymph node, by measuring the expression or activity of alpha-methylacyl-CoA racemase are described. The invention also provides: methods of screening for compounds that can be used to treat prostate cancer (including hormone refractory or androgen independent prostate cancer) or metastases of prostate cancer by screening for compounds that modulate the expression or activity of the alpha-methylacyl-CoA racemase polypeptides or nucleic acids; a process for modulating (i.e., reducing) alpha-methylacyl-CoA racemase polypeptide or nucleic acid expression or activity, e.g., using the screened compounds; and methods for selecting patients for therapy with a compound that reduces the activity or expression of alpha-methylacyl-CoA racemase as well as methods for determining whether such a therapy should be continued in a patient.
