    摘要： Esters of phosphorus acids are prepared by an improved process whereby aromatic alcohols and phosphorus halides are reacted at specified temperatures in the presence of amine catalysts thereby providing high yields of substantially pure esters and allowing preparation of selected halogen-containing mono- and di-esters of phosphorus acids wherein halogen is directly bonded to phosphorus having substantially no side reactant contamination. The phosphorus esters are useful as intermediates in the preparation of plasticizers, oil additives and functional fluids.

    摘要： Catalysts compositions useful to catalyze the nitration of aromatic compounds in the vapor phase to produce nitroaromatic compounds are represented by the empirical formula:(M.sup.1.sub.a M.sup.2.sub.b O.sub.c).sub.x (NO.sub.2).sub.ywherein M.sup.1 is at least one element selected from Group 4b of the Periodic Table of the Elements, M.sup.2 is at least one element selected from Group 3b of the Periodic Table of the Elements, a is 1, b is 0.050 to 20, c is a number taken to satisfy the average valences of M.sup.1 and M.sup.2 in the oxidation states in which they exist in the composition, x is 1, and y is 0 to c. The compositions are particularly effective to catalyze the vapor phase nitration of chlorobenzene and are characterized in such reaction by providing a para/ortho isomer distribution ratio of at least about 1.9/l.

    摘要： Compounds of the formulas ##STR1## WHEREIN: X represents oxygen or sulfur;Z represents the residue of a hydroxyl-containing moiety;R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 in formula (1) may be the same or different and individually represent alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl and, together with the common nitrogen atom, represent a 5 or 6 member ring containing oxygen, sulfur or nitrogen or combination thereof;Nr.sub.1 r.sub.2 in formula (2) represents a 5 or 6 member ring containing oxygen, sulfur or nitrogen or combination thereof;n represents an integer having a value of 2 or greater and is equal to the number of hydroxyl groups on the orginal hydroxyl-containing moiety, the residue of which is now represented by Z.are prepared by reacting a phosphorohalidate with an amine in an organic solvent containing aqueous alkali metal or ammonium hydroxide.The compounds are useful as flame retardants for natural and synthetic materials.
